PS3 purchase and some doubts

^ I will definitely give that a try. Hopefully it should fix my woes.

Gannu - Unselected DTS and only selected DD 5.1. Same result - The audio was still stuttering when the PS3 booted so reverted the settings.

I plan to connect the PS3 to my monitor as I would don't have a TV in my room and won't like to buy 1 with the sole purpose of gaming.

The monitor is Samsung T220. The resolution is 1680x1050 and has DVI and VGA port. I think it is HDCP compliant.

Will this -http://www.ebay.in/itm/1-5M-Gold-Pl...0?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_203&hash=item27cb2e052a - HDMI to DVI Cable work?

The DVI port at the moment is already in use but should this work I will get a DVI to VGA converter for my pc.

Please advice.

It should work IMO. Alternately you can get a converter as well. I had used a converter with my Dell display before which was sourced from Dealextreme.

I will see if I can grab the cable (locally) on my way home today. Resolution can be an issue but hoping for the best.

Resolution wouldn't be much of a deal breaker unless you are hellbent on noticing it all the time. :P

Gannu were you using the monitor in your signature?

Really hoping it won't be very bad. Tired of lurking around the house looking for opportunities when the TV is unattended.

Yesterday got that and managed to get 2 laps around Suzuka by then mom returned and wanted to watch her show. Apparently the character - in the show she watches - who has been paralyzed for ages was going to move on her own and stop the jerk trying to set her on fire. I sat down to watch the show only to find out that she nearly moved a finger and will move today. Reminded me of DBZ, they show you the preview and you expect something big to happen but all BS happens except what the narrator had described after - "In next episode of Dragon Ball Zeeee...."

Yes I was using the U2407 with my console until I got hold of the 40 incher later next year. Trust me the experience wasn't any bad. Other than the bigger real estate, there is not a big difference. Besides, with a computer monitor you tend to sit close to the display.

Typical of saas-bahu serials I guess.

Worked better than I expected.

Considering I have a 16:10 monitor 1920x1080 is downscaled and displayed. The only game that was affected was GT5. It ran with borders on all 4 sides but the borders were not very thick and visible area was good enough for me to sit back and play.

GTA 4, DMC 4 and MK were all full screen. Downloaded F1 2012 Demo, it was also playable in fullscreen.

Will get a RCA switch today (considering it is 1 AM atm) on my way back and then I am set. Only sad part is I am now using a DVI to VGA converter to connect my PC to monitor.

Hey did you change the resolution within the console? IIRC there's an option to set the resolution. Do check that so you could possibly avoid the black bars.

Oops :ashamed:. I think there are 4 resolutions available for HDMI under Video Settings viz., 480, 576, 720 and 1080. When it was connected to my TV all 4 were selected. I didn't think of un-selecting 1080. May be it will get rid of the letterbox mode.

Thanks for bringing that to my notice.

Removed both 1080i & 1080p and tried GT5. Letter box effect was replaced by horizontal lines at top & bottom. I was a bit more comfortable with the previous settings despite the letterbox effect. So I reverted the settings on the PS3.

Is it too late to search for Condemned 2 bloodshot?

May be. Chances of finding a copy on Indian portals are slim. It is an old title but you can post a thread in the Market WTB section. Who knows, maybe someone is looking forth to dump a copy! :P

A thread on IVG might help as well. Or get it via Amazon. They can ship it to you without charging any duties.

^ Will definitely do that. The first game was fantastic wish the second one was ported as well.

Imported the cars from my PSP Garage. Wonder if there is an option to delete cars from Pocket Garage. I ticked all of them (34) and there is a limit of 50 (I think) and 1 of those cars happened to be this -

The imported cars don't look that great but hey I have a Enzo, a Viper, a GT 500, a Cerebra... and I have just started. So can't complain about that.

2 mbps is sufficient. Went online with a Toyota Celica 91 bought from used car dealers and joined a race against heavy weights on Special Route 7. By sector 1 I was a minute down by sector 2 was hitting the 2 minute mark. Would have continued despite the embarrassment but the track was just too long. Fantastic track though.

@Gannu looks like you and ethan thoroughly enjoyed yourself. Any chance you still have the disc lying around

Sad to see you and Ethan were the only guys discussing the game. Condemned: Criminal Origins was a fantastic game.

Stupid ebay sellers, selling it at Rs.3868/-.

Will focus on the games I have at the moment.

No man. It's been a while! I hope you didn't read those spoilers though. Please don't. As for the copy, try sourcing it via Amazon US. You can pay via debit card. And they should ship it internationally.

Nope avoided those. Never bought anything from Amazon. Does net banking also work? I have never used Debit Card for online payments.

Also is it safe? Will try here and IVG first though.
If the Amazon thing works out (especially the Used games part) then...

-- Update --
The used game of condemned @3$ doesn't ship to my location.

Any harm in storing my card data on amazon or can I add the details while placing the order because after the address check it didn't allow me to proceed.
