Not sure about this one though, it has a flap like the ps2 slim and the amount of lens failures were too damn high on that one.

Actually Sony never used the term slim with the one you are referring to. This on the other hand might be marketed as the slim.

The title is misleading.
We already have a ps3 slim. The model in question is being billed as the Super slim.

Yep. Sony hasnt confirmed anything. But the slim is already out there, and the rumor mills have it christened as the super slim for making the distinction.

Variations: 16 GB, 250 GB, 500 GB

Seems like Sony hasnt got any plans to stem the piracy.

The model number of the system in the pictures is: CECH-4011C. PSX-Sense states that it "will be available with a 16, 250 and 500GB HDD. previously appeared similar model numbers already in the database of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission). It is not certain whether the new model so there really will look like, but we can do now with a bit more certainty that Sony soon with a cheaper model to come."

If its cheaper, than its gonna be awesome. :)

It better be cheaper going by that build quality, it does look ugly, the glossy parts look too cheap but i expected something with a smaller footprint.

Will grab the current slim model before it goes EOL. The super slim or whatever it is called looks very ugly. :(

I dont think Sony will phase out the current Slim model. It has been the most stable and successful of the lot.
The new super slim seems to be a side step just like the PSP Go model. The idea with this one seems to offer a cheap alternative to those who dont want to splurge money.

But the news about 120/500 GB does makes one jittery.

16 GB is a typo probably.

Actually come to think of it, we need only that much space for a few game installations. No hard drive is a win! :P

So the 16GB flash version is indeed real. And it goes for cheap! A hard drive could be connected through the USB port.

The new model will stack up against Microsoft’s 4Gb Flash-based Xbox 360. As the 16Gb PS3-4000 will have a flip-lid disc input and low-capacity storage, we’ve been told today that the announcement “may” be accompanied by a huge price cut, with the entry version potentially dropping as low as 99 pounds.

fail pricing for the kind of build quality and appearance on offer. No reason to go for this, people still remember the days when disc flaps could be moved over the ps2.

Agreed. But couldn't quite comprehend the last part of your statement.

I remember my friends going through multiple ps2's and console repairs. Much easier for dust to get into components, problems with the lasers not reading discs, etc.
The older design was full of win but not this one. Would have lived with it if it were priced at $150-170 for the one with the 12gb flash but these look like apple memory prices.

Pardon me, but i cudnt find the pricing..
Anybody can throw some light on that...?
