PS3 slim images surface

Top loading? Seriously? Come on Sony. This is a step-backwards. I always hated that about the old PS2. With the lens being so close to the loading area, I always use to be extra careful while loading the disc in the tray. Slot-loading was perfect. Don't really like the grill design on top either. Disappointed with the new version.
 
By the year end perhaps? IIRC the slim launched a couple of months after it hit the retail.

As for the optical drives, the slot loading mechanism is the perfect one I'd say. I find the X360 a pain due to the tray and somewhat noisier when the disc spins. The PS3 is a breeze in that aspect.

But isn't the lens exposed in that way? It will decrease the life of the lens,won't it?
