PS3 Upscaling over component

Hi,

I want to buy PS3 to use it as media center. Can somebody confirm PS3 can upscale SD content to 720p over component. I have HD CRT TV(Philips 8836) which doesnt have HDMI input, so I cant use HDMI. I buy a TV at this time.

I googled and found some discussions where every one talks with specification. Can some PS3 owner kindly disconnect HDMI and connect via component and post the result here?

I went to X-cite to check this yesterday, but the sales guys dont know how to connect component cable to ps3 and not willing to allow me to do.

Yeah, just connect via the component and check the 720p display in the display settings and you're good to go, DVD, bluray movies and games will now be 720p, Ps2 games will be 480p. The quality is not much different than it is on HDMI

If you want I'll do a HDMI and Component comparison with Warhawk and Fallout 3 on 720p - Like I said its barely noticeable.

Thanks Params7, if PS3 can upscale DVDs then it is good, I am going to add PS3 in my next budget . If you can do comparison of movie playback over HDMI vs Component using PS3 then it will useful to me. I play games on my PC
