PSP for music?

Had the PSP with games for a day, and i'm totally hooked onto it!!!

Siunce my phone is dead, I was thinking of getting a MP3 player + normal phone. But now i'm thinking a normal phone + PSP, which i'll be usoiing largely for music purposes. So hows the PSP for music? will be using ~4-5 hours of music everyday.

Very bad.

Unless there is some 3rd party app that actually works.

The volume is darn low though the sound quality is crisp.

And low means low as I have got quite some things that can churn up good volume.

Very bad? I actually tried some 320kbps MP3s and it wasnt bad at all. Not great, but good enough. think I made up my decision

I am talking about the Volume level.

Its not loud.

I can hear outside noise when listening to it versus my Sony Walkman.

I'm using EP630s and was comfortable with PSP volume at 50%

I actually prefer the "unique" EQ setting in the psp to the shrill SQ of my friends ipod. The psp has a more balanced sound i feel and when combined with the ep-630 's it's very decent. I've ordered a fiio amp from dealextreme to make it sound even better/louder....
The only negative to using it as a dedicated music player is the size of the damn thing...you drop it once and it's history :bye2:

and one another -ve is 'Pro Duo' is too costly a 16GB 'Pro Duo' cost as much a new PSP.

Also IMHO you should wait for PSP3K which will be launched in October in US/UK, and most probably in December in India

get u r self an ipod. the psp volume is very low. we cant hear the audio in outdoor environment and its huge to be used as a mp3 player though its a very good multimedia device

nah, with EP-630 it sounds good; you don't have to worry about the outdoors nocies, unless you are working in a machine factory

If u dont mind the size,the sound is very balanced.If u have atleast EP 630s u will be pretty satisfied.The stock ear phones are pathetic.

ha ha.........the stock ear phones work fine when u connect to other systems like pc or ipod. the sound feels better on other systems

slightly OT, how much does a new psp slim cost here in mumbai? alfa price?

i have heard about the psp volume being low, but how is the sound quality on ep-630? maybe compared to a walkman phone/XM phone?

I used PSP for music for a year before I bought an MP3 player (Creative Zen Stone Plus). I have to say, I liked the sound quality of PSP on earphones - I used EP 630s. Off course its in built is not loud and you can't use it as a music system !

But if you want to listen to music on the go, and carry a bag on your back around like I do, you can use it. Its certainly too large and delicate to fit in a pocket. Else you can get one of those funky PSP handbags, or their el cheapo Indian counterparts (I own one - got it from Ninja Traders)

The software that I used on my modded PSP was - Light MP3 player, you can get the latest version from forums like pspiso.com, and other useful application as well.

Edit: And who said PSP is only for gaming - its a complete multimedia rig. I even read ebooks / watch videos on it ! If you are comfortable with the small but High Res screen, you can use it as a multi - purpose device. And then it has so many nice games to offer. Get a PSP 2000, for the PSP 3000 has still not been hacked !

ahh.. my 2000th post! well psp is very good mp3 player. it gives amazing visualization effects!
