Im thinking of buying my brother a PSP. I have a few questions in mind.

1. Upgrading the firmware to *ahem* version, voids warranty, btw how much does PSP have ?

2. How much can I get a memory stick for ?

3. Are the games available on the internet ( ofcourse the *ahem* ones) ?

4. Main Question - I am getting it for 8.8k with warranty. Also I have a friend in London now. Can u guys plz tell me the best possible deal I can get from UK ?

Would it be better to buy it from here or London, as im concerned about warranty.

Any help would be appreciated as I am a complete noob when PS is concerned. :S

1. PSPs usually have 1 year of warranty. The current original firmware on PSP 3000s is 5.50, which cannot be hacked. If you get one with a firmware version lower than 5.03 it can be hacked easily.

2. A 4gb original Sony memory stick would cost ~1.1k , not sure on the exact prices

3. Yes, games are available on torrents

4. IMHO, I would rather buy it from here than abroad. I dont think the savings would be too much, that said do what ever you are comfortable with :)

Also, hacking the PSP 3000 is not exactly permanent, removing the battery would restore the PSP back to its original state, so you wont actually void your warranty here.

If I visit a grey market like Pallika Bazar, Delhi, what should be the manufacturing date so that i can confirm the firmware to be 5.03. Ne idea ?

Also, if something goes wrong with the PSP in the future, do SONY people fix it, by ofcourse charging their repair fee ??
