On a Journey called Life :P
Keymaster
Summary, I am in market to buy a PSU for my secondary PC or may be primary pc and primary pc psu will go in secondary pc :P
I own RM1000x which I got in 2021. Second one is RM750, 9 year or more old, and I am looking to replace.

What should I get? so many options. And what I am looking for is to have extra juice if a 600W GPU drops in my system :P
Corsair, XPG, EVGA, Cooler master(may be), No antec (have heard horrible stories about it recently of high end models and RMA).

also should I stick to 1000w or also look into 1200w or 1300w version as its 4k to 5k extra!

If you're looking for best in each segment, check this.

Could you share the specs of both the PCs and if there's anything you're looking to upgrade?
in my signature ;)

1000W is more than enough. But this depends on your budget and specific models, I guess. Once you've narrowed down 2 or 3 PSUs, you might find one with more warranty, less noise, better deal etc.

Can get RM1000x as to what I have but its not ATX 3.0, RM Shit is not in stock, Cooler Master 1050 V2, MSI AEG 1000, Thermaltech 1000, XPG 1000 are the options in front of me. and this is super confusing ...

the power supplies you already have are plenty enough to drive a 4090.. I have it on a 1000Watts atx 2.0 right now with a 13700K+4090 with a cablemod extention cable to make it look decent.

Unless there are significant performance advantages with atx 3.0 that i dont know about.

queit honestly it even worked fine with my 750watt supply.

have 2 system in which one psu as gone bad. so thinking of buying one right now!

Seems like Thermaltake is the best option - 16k for 1000w & 21k for 1350w.

MSI's MEG 1000 is not available & 1300 is priced too high @30k; XPG's ATX3.0 compatible versions not available; CM is a tier below.

MSI A1000G PCIE 5 is available for 16.8K or something. Corsair RM1000X which is list is the 2018 Model as per the list and I have it which I got in 2021. and today I still got a quote for the same which is around 15K july 2021 imported. I am totally confused now! do you know who handles Thermaltake RMA in india?
Thermaltake not so promising I suppose :/

also why do corsair India have images of
1686064614678.png

which is new and certified version ATX 3.0 version but still sells

Same desgin for 1000W (I own one) which is 2018 design :/ are they dumping not sold goods in Indian market?
the only thing blocking me from buying MSI A1000G PCIE 5 is the thing I don't know how is the MSI RMA in India.

there are 2 versions. MSI A1000G PCIE 5 and MSI A1000G and I think the review is for Non PCIE 5 version.
Yeah, seems like it. Sorry. Got mislead by this
MSI enriches its MPG series with a 1000W power supply, with model number A1000G. The flagship of the MPG line uses a different exterior design, which is appealing to our eyes, at least. With the new Intel ATX spec and the PCIe 5.0 standard raising the Wattage bar for upcoming GPUs, all brands have to focus on stronger PSUs that will cope with the increased energy demands.
useless statement there.

I think Cooler Master MWE Gold 1250 V2 ATX 3.0 or Cooler Master MWE Gold 1050 V2 ATX 3.0 is way to go now. Don't have latest version RM1000X or RM 1000 Shift. Msi have after sales issue. rest I don't see it.

I got the Antec Signature 1300W for my 4090. It is a great PSU. If you don't want to go into much details, this is basically a Seasonic Prime PSU but rebranded as Antec. Should do you good. ATX 3.0 gonna cost an arm and a leg so be wary of that. Stay away from Thermaltake.

you using 4090 on what processor? also which model and what cost? :angelic:
The situation I got right now in the market is, corsair trying to end all old stock as I can see scarcity of RM1000x. Cooler master have a good one for under 20k which is 1250 v2 PCIE 5. this was also out of stock when I inquired. 1050 v2 PCIE5 cost 17K. Even Corsair shift is mostly out of stock even if they are showing it on website.
I think new PSU will be introduced in next few months...

Using it with a 5900X. Gigabyte Aorus Master which I got at launch for around 179k.

Are you looking into the ATX 3.0 because of 12VHPWR port ?

The ones by CM you mentioned, I talked to a few folks when I was researching for mine and they said it's not that good. For 1000W or more they only suggested Corsair. I think you can also look into Asus Strix or Asus Thor if they are in your budget.

20k may be!

asus asking for 30k is a big no no for me. corsair, no stock for shift. rm1000x is 2018 models. rm1000e not that great :dead: MSI looks good. have connected to rep who told direct replacements only. don't know about burnout situation. I find corsair not looking India as a promising market, rather a dumping market.
for 4090, I am super confused. how much of performance lift will I get for a 1.7L card. or should I skip to 5000 or 8000. currently the new psu will go in my 3060ti rig so was looking for a ATX 3.0 itself as a future upgrade.

1000W PSU ATX 3.0
I am facing a dilemma with having ordered & received the ASUS TUF Gaming 1000W Gold just a few days back from Amazon (June 8th 2023)
Initial testing was done by connecting it to my RIG from outside only - BUT I COULD NOT POWER ON MY SYSTEM AT ALL :arghh: - with all my multiple HDD's disconnected etc & later even my GPU - Asus TUF Gaming RTX 3060 OC 12GB
(Just a few of my system fans were running - that's all)
BUT THE 1000W PSU UNIT FAN WAS NOT RUNNING AT ALL

I initiated a refund from Amazon (which they refuse - but their tech support heard me out for over 35 mins - as I been a customer from 2009 & Prime member too having spend lakhs on various products - and rarely even returned any items). The replacement is arriving today :D

AM I GOING WRONG SOMEWHERE - with the latest gen of technology & system components.
1. Was this product defective?
2. What if the replacement of the ASUS TUF Gaming 1000W Gold - also does not work :arghh:
3. Does one have to connect all your devices so that a 1000W PSU recognizes the load it needs to handle ? For the initial testing only
4. What is this

0dB Technology

Quiet intelligence
An onboard controller brings the 135mm fan to a standstill when thermal design power (TDP) is below 40%, letting you enjoy light gaming in relative silence. Above 40% TDP, the fans automatically start up again.
5. A local trusted dealer "DEEP Computer & Services" from Andheri East, Mumbai (who have well qualified technicians too) had suggested that I go for ASUS-ROG-STRIX 1000W psu & he would procure it for me [I turned down the offer for 2 reasons - delivery would take 4/5 days & this was an older model]
6. My RIG is Not working for the past 15 days & I AM FRUSTRATED as all my works are held up
[Earlier my Gigabyte Z790 UD AX Failed (in less than 3 months!!) - gave it for RMA, they re-flashed the BIOS; could not check it out as then My old Seasonic 850W Gold PSU became the culprit]
7. What are all these parallel issues with the LATEST GEN OF PRODUCTS FROM Manufacturers & compatibility issues :mad: - which I never experienced in my four previous builds in the last 30 years & I used it for years without RMA for any of my premium components.
8. I also have G.Skill 64GB DDR5 6000 MHz RAM on my system [tried using XMP to boost - but did not work] and i5-13600K (not oc at all)
9. I do not know what to do anymore after having spent over Rs 2 lacs on my system build
10. The Cabinet Thermaltake The Tower 900 Snow Ed & its system fans 10 of them are old.

Let me clear the points below:

1. PSU fan is not an indicator of Healthy or Dead PSU as many PSU have zero Fan profile under certain temperature. My RM 1000X is dead silent as fan never runs. and if it even runs, can't hear it against 13 fans in my system.

2. There is nothing such as compatibility against processor or gpu, ATX 3.0 or PCIE 5 marked PSU means it can handle spike 3 times the watt for sometimes. And PCIE 5 means 12V single 600W cable support. I can be representing it statement wrong in terms of words but you might get a general idea. Like processor (intel) might pull high power from a psu for a certain time and your psu can handle it is what ATX 3.0 for latest gen means.

3. I have not used ASUS psu and I would say way for anything below Strix, but Strix is F**ing Expensive and don't make sense. Choose Corsair, Cooler Master, MSI, NZXT, Antec as per requirement. 1000w is way more than sufficient for you. My recommendation is Corsair RM1000X gold. This thread was just created because I wanted to try the new PCIE 5 compatible out of the box psu. Corsair RM1000X can handle all requirements with ease and will cost 14.5K only.

4. How to check psu is dead or not is simple. Connect case fans to your psu cables where they belong. shot the psu with a jumper in 24pin connector (I use steeple pins :p) and see if the fans get power or not. if fan runs, you are fine, else psu is dead. Next if you have a psu running fan, but system won't boot, check of debugging led lights on motherboard.

5) If you are able to boot to system after above steps. download OCCT and run a power stress test (My RM750 failed here). let it run for 30 mins or 1 hr. if test success, psu is fine, may be ram or motherboard, or gpu is the issue. check for that.

6) You don't need to connect all devices for working state. Its up to you if you want all to be devices to be running from start or else add them later on. e.g I have a 2 tb external always attached to my pc and system works fine. but my second system fails to start of go in boot loop is any external usb device leaving keyboard mouse is attached, due to psu fault.

7) What I would recommend is stay away from gigabyte, asus, May be MSI for After sales service (I personally own 2 motherboard and 2 monitor) and my friend even owns a MSI gpu. No issue). If psu is at fault. just get a Corsair and have peace of mind. if motherboard is at fault, get some other brand, Gigabyte is good in service, poor in quality. you can read the gpu drama currently on breaking pcb. also I did own a gigabyte motherboard and Have rma it like 12 times due to mosfet melt down like 10 years back.
