Hello friends,

I am currently on cooler master 460W and i need to change my PSU to 600W (or 650W).

My budget is around 4k (cannot spend beyond 4.5k), is Corsair GS600W a good choice? Are there any other good PSUs around within the same range?
Reason for change:
Changing my card from 5770 to 4870.
Thanks.

Which Coolermaster? Real Power? eXtreme?

P.S Please give you full config

Buy VX-550 it'll cost u around 3.8k(last price what lynx-india told me) and its a much better 80+ Certified.
That is bullcrap. Lynx-India doesn't have VX550 specially at that price, and anyways I dont think a VX550 is required here

my config is in my sig... click the cpu-z validator link. Only change will be that i'll switch to ATI 4870 from current 5770.

also a few things... currently in my cabinet:

2 Sata hdds [will add one more soon, so count 3 sata hdds]

1 IDE hdd

1 dvd writer

2x 120mm LED fans

2x 80mm LED fans

Avoid CM extrme power and GX series

For CM stick to silent power pro or above, which are usually really expensive psus.

else seasonic is a safe bet!

Why are you stepping down from the HD 5770 to the HD 4870?

What series PSU is yours the Real Power Pro OR eXtreme Power series? -- If it is the Real Power Pro then no need to change if you plan to stick to current configuration (that means even if you add a HD 4870 to the show). If it is the eXtreme Power series then immediately switch over to the Corsair VX 550W SMPS it will allow you a breathing space to upgrade your RIG a bit more later on. Enthusiast Series

If you want another budget option go to Arun Computers CTC Plaza -- inquire for the FSP Blue Storm Pro 500W ~ 3500/- INR very good base SMPS with 80+ certification. FSP is a OEM for most other SMPS brands. FSP Blue Storm 500w « XSReviews / Theitdepot - FSP Blue Storm Pro 500W PowerSupply Hope this helps bruv :).

Will 500W be enough? 600W is what i wanted to go with... and since my budget is around 4-4.5k only. I think vx550w fits right in (3.8k). But how does vx550 perform?

Please note, 4870 needs dual +12V power rails. What PSUs will hv dual? If not, is it safe to use a molex to pci converter to make 2nd 12v rail?

Go with the VX550 eyes closed.I am running a Phenom II 955+6950 1 gb on it without any issues. The 4870 has a 160w TDp.The vx550 will handle that with ease.Plus u get the superb warranty of 5 yrs with vx550

As I said earlier, VX550 @3.8k is not possible. You could get it for 4.6k, although first of all I see no reason in shifting from a 5770 to 4870.
