Hi guys,
Moving over to pune I realized that biking is the best way to commute, I absolutely adore the P220 but I am sceptical about its fuel economy, can someone tell me whats the p220's fuel economy, city/highway/overall

35-45 kmpl, depending on your riding style.

Gr8 bike, Superb VFM, go for it.
There are some shortcomings but, for that price there is nothing like P220 F

Which 220 are you talking about?

The first one was with Fi, Pulsar 220DTSFi which gives pretty good mileage, even with the occasional spirited riding. Some of my friends have got 40+ kms to a litre. Riding consisted of weekdays in city and weekends in highway.

The second one was the carburetted one, Pulsar 220 DTSi. Dont know anyone who owns this, but I have read that it gives around 35 kms to a litre.

The latest one is the Pulsar 220S which is the same as the 220 DTSi, but without the half-fairing. I assume mileage should be the same, around 35 kms to a litre.

My 150 gives me just 45kmpl..... So don't expect much mileage from a 220.

35 will be fine... But the Ride quality, comfort and experience is awesome... U wont ever regret buying a Pulsar :)

My two months old P220 dtsi gives me 35-40 kmpl in city .. A friend who's bike is 2 months older than me claims to have 42-45 kmpl in city. Its a superb bike as well ..And 2010 edition has most small niggles corrected ..:) Just cant explain how effortlessly it does 90-100 kmph ..Just wow!!

which pulsar are 220 are you talking about dtsi or the dts-fi????

DUDE dts-fi has been discontinued ... :bleh:

I am the owner of the Fastest India :)

Believe me, you don't even come to know when ur bike touched 80kmph ...

If you take care of your bike for the first 2 service and use it as per the instructions given in the booklet thn you will get average of 45kmpl ...

My Bike is getting the 45kmpl average ...

You get a waiting period of one month here in PUNE....

Its supsd to give 35. but that will variate on ur driving style. Herez a cooL thing. The bike in top gear, 5000rpm does 65km/hr! n it goes on till 12000! :ohyeah:

My frnd owns one. He took it till 135 till he freaked cause he had not done his 1st servicing! :ohyeah:

Btw, Bajaj doesnt make their own gearbox anymore. They buy frm the same ppl who make the hero honda one? i think!

So no more gearshift issues.

And the bike rocks. You wudnt mind the slightly lesser mileage when u ride it. :)

Dont give wrong facts here. All Pulsars come with a rpm cut off. It is to restrict the bikes revs(rpm) to 10000. RTR is the only bike in India without a rev limiter that revs till 12000.

And BAJAJ do make their own gearbox. Just that their quality has improved by miles now! It has been redesigned to eliminate false neutrals and give better feedback.

To thread starter: If ur concerned of mileage, get the non-faired S-version. Weighs around 6 kgs less. Better pickup and mileage as well! But u will loose out the amazing headlights that come as stock on the 220-F. An average of 35 is expected mileage to the litre.

In City like Pune, you will loose most of the mileage on signals, irregular acceleration to maintain your position in traffic. And one thing to remember, Pune ppl follow US driving rules, the overtake from wrong side , I learned the hard way :S .

Some fkin morons don't follow any rules. :@

anymore 220 dtsi owners want to add their comments and experiences ? for me the fuel efficiency is the big deal, my friend who owns a 180 dtsi (2009) tells me that he gets 45-50kmpl and there is this guy I recently met who told me his P220 dtsi (2009) gives him 42 odd in the city and 50 on the highway, can the fuel economy figures of both these bikes be so close ?

Check this review, the got 42 in the city and 52 on the highway, in line with the reported figures.

Its giving me 35+ surely in city .. so that figure of 42 is quite possible.
