Hi Guys,
I am planning to take my bike to Mumbai (Borivali (west) specifically) from my residence here in Pune (Aundh). Please let me know which would be the best route.
One route that i am aware of (and thru which most of the buses ply) is

Pune -> Expressway -> Vashi -> Chembur -> Sion ->Western Express Highway -> Borivali

I know i cannot go through expressway and hence will take NH4 but rest of route remains same.

But i dont want to take this long route. I believe that there is a middle way (after highway completes) where i can directly reach western express highway from eastern express highway.

Please pour in your inputs :)

Pune > Belapur > Thane > Borivali (via Ghodbunder Road). Don't know the exact route, but the route to Thane bifurcates before Vashi and after Belapur. Somone from that are might perhaps elaborate.

Thane to Borivali can be done via Ghodbunder Road, which is quite empty and in good condition.

^^ yes that is an option...but i suppose there is some place on eastern express highway from where i can go to western express highway via ghatkopar...dont know much about it but

i rode last evening thru pune :D......must say its way developed structure'ally than what i saw it earlier...IT park and loads of shopping complex's and fun complex's (from what I saw from the outside) ....eating spots and what not....

Best route....take NH4-ride to lonavala-panvel- and then wherever.....let me know where exactly u want to go , will tell u the exact route.....

loved this on the way to pune...

NH-4 after pune is a treat....:)

P.S : no questions on where was I returning from :P or why was I riding there , just in preps for something ;)

Anyways , back to the point....the route is very simple....will map it for you on google if u need , give me the destination where u are headed.....

Also on the way back I saw a group of Pune bikes stunt on a side road....RSA ? Xbhpians ? or some other group maybe.....so wanted to stop but I just could'nt....stops were not an option.......oppps...

And also u said it right.....there is a RIGHT turn in the middle , u ride to Ghatkopar and route to POWAI and then out to Andheri and catch the highway from there :D .....nice and easy.....when i dint know this and ride around like a n00b i used to ride all the way to Bandra - Kurla and then ride back to Andheri

Help coming your way from some one who has been on this route on a Bike...:ohyeah:
I suggest you to take a printout of the route from google maps.

Drive safe. wear helmet and a protective jacket

Cheers,
MHI

thr r multiple routes as u rightly said...will try to clear it out for ya..

1. Pune->Panvel->Thane (via Taloja and Mumbhra) this all is on NH4. Then take Ghodbunder road to reach Mira Bhayandar and then Borivali. This in my opinion is the best route.

2. Pune->Panvel via NH4. Panvel->Vashi->Mankhurd->Ghatkopar->Andheri->Borivali. Not a good option. City traffic can get tricky.

3. The Turbhe-Airoli-Powai-western exprsway will b a longer route than both the above ones i think. Better wud b to take Turbhe- Airoli-Thane-Ghodbunder in that case.

Check wikimapia/google maps/ yahoo maps. or call me if u want any help/directions...

EDIT:

Thanks MHI for the headsup :P ...yeah i did bring my bike from Pune to Mumbai...had a puncture just before panvel...had to push the bike for abt half a km before i found a puncture shop...have been on the first 2 routes i mentioned...havent been on the 3rd route yet...but since u r gonna come to borivali i wud suggest route 1....even tho some part of NH4 is dug up after panvel...i hope the traffic wont be threatening....

^^yes man helmet and everything will always be there....but the only grudge is that the back seat is empty and i am looking forward for someone *interesting* to fill in :ohyeah: :ohyeah:
preferably someone of opposite sex :ohyeah:
