Quake live open beta starting today...

Yup, final version will also be free. Right now it can run only on Windows xp/vista, but plugins for mac and linux will be coming.
 
like i've said before... have fun playing on american and euro servers with 400 ping :/

i wish id would put up one server in singapore or something... or at least let you host your own.
 
I am pretty sure, by popular demand, It should come. BTW i hear there are some Q3 CPM servers hosted by Hammifer on Starhub. should be no more than 70-80 on VSNL.
 
i got registered and downloaded a 3 mb file "quakeliveNP", It installs a plugin into my firefox and then nothing happens...what to do now? :S

that is precisely the problem. there is no "popular demand" from asia. we don't have even 10% of the EU or NA playerbase.

i'm banned from Starhub for some reason. turns out they've put a ban on a certain ip range that doesn't allow many airtel users to connect.

Indiatimes CPMA is the only option right now for us.

once you actually manage to login, it will download around 250mb to your system through the browser.

site is totally messed up right now... i've heard that queues go up to 33000. i just logged in to check and it was at ~2500. right now i'm at 2472 after 20 minutes. so yea their servers are getting hammered big time.

like ashr said though, it really is pointless for us. the best ping i can manage was ~160-200 for a euro server, and good luck playing at that latency against an opponent with 15 ping.
 
Tried it and its unplayable because of pings. Not worth the time and effort. They need some asian servers.
 
guys... tell me something... why are all of you suddenly trying to jump onto quakelive right away? there aren't many changes that will really matter to casual players so you might as well play Quake 3 online with us for now.

maybe when QL goes live and there are some asian servers, it's worth it.
