We are two people planning to go to watch Avatar in Imax 3D next weekend (yeah this late, already seen it in Blu ray rip but wanna experience in Imax 3D) .

Now i just called up the Imax wadala folks and they said that the round dome screen is totally shut down and they have replaced it with a very big (as claimed) flat screen and on phone the guy was sort of convincing me that it will be an unforgettable experience for me :)

Now anyone who has seen the movie Avatar there in 3D can let me know the experience ??? The last movie i saw in Imax there was Dark Knight last year (not entirely imax but only few scenes). Also please suggest which would be the best seat to watch the movie in. The usual last row seats on top ??

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, thats right. The dome screen has been shut down and a big concave(or..was it flat) screen is placed in the same auditorium.

Best seats would be the center ones, not too down. The premium seats at the top would be the best.

:O Tickets for just 200 bucks for premium...great...had to shell out 350 in the first week :(

ya i also saw the movie there.....big screen thts it...nothing new :(

seats are good....u might get peoples head between u n screen.

best seat would be.....top level or any level....but FRONT row in respective level....so there will be no one in front of u.... ;)

I too am planning to get the top row premium seats. You see various purposes are solved with top row seats...no one behind us (you people know why ) and preferably corner seats :P

Crap, then why waste it on avatar - better head for something else.

I know, I have seen a Tamil flick Mozhi 6 times in the same theater. :ashamed:

^ Ahem. Ok I see. :P

BTW I had seen Avatar in IMAX 3D. The screen is slightly different. It appears to be flat, but if you look at it from the side you'll know it's slightly concave. I think it would be better than normal 3D screens.

Get the premium seats on top and sit in the middle. Don't worry, everyone's already watched the movie, so hardly anyone will be there. :P Go for a morning show, then definitely no one will be there. :P Movie wouldn't look so good from the corner seats if you are interested in watching at all. :P

^^

Really good comments there buddy. Btw there is only one show of 1 PM and some one suggested me that lat row seats are not that good for viewing. Better get 3rd or 4th row from top. Also if you go out and see many tickets have already been booked and sunday would there would be crowd.

I have seen 2 movies here ... dark knight in the top row and avatar in the platinum, middle seats . I enjoyed more in the latter than in the top row ... maybe its just me but this was my experience.

i suggest you once check on bookmyshow.com and see the seat arrangements and then book :)

Yes don't sit on the last row, get tickets for 3rd or 4th row from top and middle seats. You'll realize those are the best seats as soon as you see the theater.

Yay Yay Sir....will surely do that. Waiting for the bookings to open for the weekend.:)

Finally booking the tickets for this sunday. They changed the time to morning 10AM. :@ How the hell am i gonna reach from Borivali to Wadala so early in morning. But better part is ticket rates. Its 100 rupees now as against 200 last week :)

I have seen some notable spec effects movies like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Special IMAX cam used for some scenes in the movie), Iron Man 2, Avatar 3D

All at IMAX-hyd

Now As you know, IMAX screen is in the resolution of 4:3 (relatively square screen), unlike other 70mm widescreen cinemas.

Sound is definitely excellent while comparing to others, But personally I did not enjoy anything special while watching Avatar 3D at IMAX. in fact some times it looked like film was narrowed down to adjust the 4:3 screen. Just Like you see 16:9 image converted to 4:3.

So if you have seen already in 3D on some other normal theater, I would not recommend to go again, but if you wanna get some 60000Watts(don't know exactly) sound effects then sure can.

Some scenes in "Transformers :ROTF " were specially taken from IMAX camera, Entire movie was shown in widescreen format, but while watching the movie there was some scenes which were taken from IMAX camera were shown in full IMAX screen 4:3 ratio. If you remember that scene in desert when multiple large trucks joint and convert into one big huge transformer. that's an example of IMAX camera.

However 100 bucks is good. So go and enjoy. "I see you". :p

I had seen Dark Knight in Imax, although not entire movie was in Imax but the over the top of buildings scenes and that chase scene in tunnel were shot in Imax.
