I'm thinking of installing a new 1TB or 1.5TB HDD on my Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard. I have a RAID 0 setup on my VIA 8237R controller that I would be preserved. The new HDD would go on my Promise 20378 RAID controller in non RAID mode.

I'm a little concerned on whether these new SATA II HDDs would be detected.
Can anyone have any experience installing large capacity hard disks on this motherboard please comment?

i am using 750gb seagate sataII's with the jumper set to sata 150 on a k8n which iirc is older than the a8v deluxe so it should work i guess :)

Thanks. Gives me some confidence to try it out :D .

The Promise controller is a bit fussy as per this thread :

Promise 20378 problem - cannot find SATA HDD - PlanetAMD64

As per a SATA 3Gb/s drive's backward compatibility, as long as your hard disk provides you with the SATA 1.5Gb/s limiting jumper you will positively be fine, else its down to the controller. The VIA 8237 southbridge has been confirmed as not compatible with the 3Gb/s standard; no clue about the Promise controller.
