According to Samsung India's website you need 300cd/m² brightness while gaming and I'am buying the Viewsonic VP930b 19 inches LCD after 2 weeks which has 250cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 constrast ratio and 8ms response time it is HDTV 720p ready too it will cost 30k.

Is it a Good LCD Monitor?

I have 2 weeks to decide.

I keep the monitor 2 feet away from my face nowdays so I also don't want to spoil my eye sight.

Suggest LCD's only as the weight of a 19 inch CRT can break my trolley and then my legs :S

can anyone give a screenshot of a LCD at 250cd/m² brightness or a Samsung Magic Bright CRT in Internet Mode.

Not sure if it's coming to India, these are its salient features

Asus has launched what it says is its first ever 19-inch LCD monitor.

The firm claims it's different from the pack because it's offering a zero bright dot policy on its units for a period of one year.

These are those annoying pixels which appear on some LCD and notebook units when you first power them up.

It is also offering a three year collect and return policy on the machines. The spec for the 19-inch monitor include two watt stereo speakers, res of 1400 by 900 (WXGA) at 90 pixels per inch, five preset modes using a hotkey, and 24-pin DVI-D digital input. The machine also has audio in and earphone jacks. Asus is claiming an eight ms response time.

here's a comparision of specs.. the VP930b is quite tall too..

Spec---------------AL1916W------------VP930b

Size------------------19"-----------------19"

Max resolution------1440x900-----------1280x1024

Pixel refresh-----------8 ms---------------8ms

Contrast--------------500:1------------1000:1

Brightness-----------300cd/m2---------250cd/m2

Speakers--------------No-----------------No

Widescreen-----------Yes-----------------No

DVI-------------------No-----------------Yes

Power Consumptionppp-60W---------------38W

Dot pitch--------------0.28--------------

Weight----------------4Kg---------------6.8Kg

Viewing Angle-----150º(H)/130º(V)----170º(H)/170º(V)

Price------------------20.5k---------------30k

The AL1916W scores in max res, brightness, weight , pricing areas.

The VP930B scores in contrast, DVI, power consumption and viewing angle areas, but is pricey too..

Edit:

There's also a Viewsonic 19" widescreen model, which compares to the Acer mentioned above..not sure of availability n pricing.. details here - http://ap.viewsonic.com/in/products/productspecs.php?id=253

Edit2:

lol.. tnx for pointing out the errata.. :D

guess masky did some swapping with the prices above :bleh
coding that will swap em back is :
{
float a= 30 , b = 20.5 ,t=0;
t = a ;
a = b;
b = t ;
}
:bleh:
