Take a chillpill Crash..... jarod always makes wise comments. That's his style. Look at some of the threads in which I have posted. You will meet many different kinds of people on the web. And Shripad is right. This is a forum. Even in your own topics, other people can write whatever they feel like. Its not just for you but for other people who might have the same questions. If you find that a comment by some member adds to your question, absorb it otherwise ignore it, just like we all do in real life. We cannot expect people to only speak in terms of what we understand. We should be the ones deciding what our terms are and if we should "absorb" waht the other person is saying. Does not meet the criteri: no worries, ignore it.. Am not saying whether he is wrong or you are worng. You both are right at your own place... Dont worry... :)..

Also, lines like "Why dont you guys please read whats already been posted? 2 x 4GB DDR2 667 / 800 SODIMMs for T61 / X61T .." is not gonna help you.. Just remember, if anybody is asking you a question on any of your own posts, they just wanna help you (and more importantly, they are helping others who might have similar problems now or in the future).....

A ) The first 2 guys recommended Corsair in a simple line.
Your response - "there is such a lack of good techies here"
You don't think that was insulting to them?
Whats the point in waving your 286 hacking skills and CAT6 wires?
My pot kettle black response was to remind you about your own techie contribution here.

B ) I was the only one who answered your query about Kingston/Samsung/Hynix in your 1st pref list. So actually I'm the one who was focused!
I just added some more points.
There was a reason I asked which size you are getting and availability. As soon as you mentioned it, I knew you would end up getting it from abroad.
Nobody even knew these were laptop SODIMMs. On desktops 4 x 2GB might benefit from 4 way interleaving.
There was no need to be rude saying "why does it matter", "read my signature", "why dont you guys read".
Even your pal Alpha17 himself said "Could you have done any better with the lack of information".

C) superfluous is not an insult.
it is to point out the irony that when Alpha recommended Corsair again but with embellishments after it was already mentioned by first 2 guys, it suddenly became an excellent answer for you.

Ps. please type outside the quote area, it is hard to follow what are your words and what are quotes.
Pps. retina display is an apple marketing term for uninformed consumers.

Usually I don't go for a 'me too' post, but couldn't help it given OP's attitude.

I think Jarod nailed it clearly when he mentioned the "pot calling the kettle black". What exactly are the OP's contributions to technical discussions on this forum? As mods have mentioned, this is a forum; take it or leave it. If OP wants to insult people, go start your own blog. If OP thinks the advice here isn't good enough for his taste, go pay some professional system builders for advice.
 
Aia- I am chilled buddy. What I dont get it is when Mr.J makes wise ass comments its okay and if I tell him that he's being a wise ass and going off topic, then I get a warning. Good luck to your forums. If I wasnt stuck in India for some work then I probably wouldnt even be posting or asking here.

Please tell me where was I insulting anyone? As some of you said he usually "makes wise guy remarks" well thats what I said to him "wise guy". He said, "pot kettle" so I asked him what he was smoking. I figured this is the level of lingo that goes on these forums. Bottom line, no one gets

All I said was what I felt. I've been on other forums longer than here and trust me these forums have more seasoned techies. Different standard & level. Doesnt mean you have to feel insulted? Dude, there's always gonna be someone out there better or at another level.

If you guys are so insecure that when someone says "there arent any good techies" that you have to feel insulted? Maybe there are some "focussed" people like Alpha17.

Maybe I am used to a better focused set of forums, where what the OP asks for is provided. No snyde remarks & going off topic into inquiry.

I have 5 laptops, 2 PCs, 2 Servers and not counting whats at the office.

If I asked whether WD or Seagate had better service in India, I dont want you to care or bother how many TeraBytes and which model I want. Simple answer..
WD experiences are X
Seagate experiences are Y.

I've asked the same information on 2/3 other forums about Memory Replacement experiences and people have been focused on the after sales / replacement aspect.

As I realize, no matter how off topic or "wise assy" Mr. J was, you want to attack me, thats fine.


BTW - This was not about "what or J have contributed to the forum". It was about "what was the subject of the topic".

As for your specific forum. I have not contributed to this forum because I have had no opportunity or need to do so. The subjects of discussions you have here are not to my "interest". Not insulting, just being frank.

He was going off topic and being wise assy and asking me questions that were irrelevant to what I wanted to know. I told him he's being wise assy and going off ..

PS: I did not ask for advise on this subject, I asked for infomation/ experiences about warranty replacement.

BTW - I advised CxOs for a living and have done Partition Level & Device driver, ISP Hacks etc before you guys ever got on the internet. I've been on more technical forums than you can imagine.

I don't want to go into specifics of everything Jarod posted, but he's absolutely right when he said the pot is calling the kettle black. Your claims of advising CxO's and 286 hacking etc. is absolutely irrelevant on the forum as you haven't posted anything to help anyone here.

Pretty selfish, IMO. You want to draw from the well, but you don't want to give anything back.

I did not mean to or want to insult you but your wise guy & distractive line of questioning was what I wanted to stay away from. I am getting DDR2 now and even some DDR3. Give your remarks, I couldn't help but give it back & call you on the 'wise guy'. If you felt offended, my apologies.

I just want to get the WARRANTY & COMPANY info I wanted without delving into the "extraneous" information & distraction that specific memory modules would have brought.

I know how extra information can DISTRACT a thread of discussion, on FORUMS and in REAL LIFE. Again, I RESPECT that you "moved away" from the thread and took the hint.

I asked for specific information here and want to stay on topic. If the MODERATORS do not realize the point of an OP asking a question and keeping threads on topic then I apologize that I am used to many forums where the OP's concern, need & question takes priority.

As I said, I responded the "wise cracks" (how guys/ boys take each others case in person) in the same vein.

What ticked me off was when Mod gave me a warning instead of the "wise crack starter". Anyways, if someone felt offended my apologies.
