Graphic Cards R.I.P HD4850 and Hello.....?

I have around 3, 120MM fans, 3 HDDs and 1 DVD Burner. That's about it. I have never OC'd or never plan to OC any of my components, EVER. So that's the entire set-up in front of you. I'll definitely save up for the PSU, as somewhere down the line, I might need it. I hope the Ti would be a good investment.

Is Zotac a good brand? Do they really offer 5 year warranty (3+ 2 extended)?

#Ethan_Hunt-i seriously advise you to not go further than HD6870 as Gtx560ti or not ti+3HDDs on VX450 could kill your psu,so get Sapphire hd6870-11.5k or get 500w psu and then buy Gtx560ti.

#Ethan_Hunt seriously Sire don't do that to your SMPS try to bump up your budget and get a GTX 560 Ti + Seasonic S12II 520W OR get a HD 6870 now and stick to your current SMPS.

Else do as #Jakob suggested.

Also if you go ahead I still think that 3 hard drives are a lot to risk considering the current premium for them.

Hope this helps. Cheers!!

What about a Corsair GS600 PSU?

Guys let him get the GPU. Don't scare him off already.
<

The GPU should work just fine albeit it may not work as efficiently as it would if he was to use a higher rated power supply with the system. Besides, he hasn't overclocked the CPU so that should give him some head room. He is on a shoestring budget for now and doesn't have a spare GPU at his disposal.

Allwyn let me know how it goes. I'll keep a tab on the thread. Will ask my friend to recharge my cellphone as well.

LOL! I'm afraid I would have to take this leap of faith. Will probably go out to Lamington tomorrow and inquire about the 6950 2GB Twin Frozr rates. Gannu, I'll keep you posted.
<

Well it sure is a leap of faith,HD6950 2gb twin frozriii will cost around 16-15k,if anything happens then #Gannu will take care of the expenses

.

Your PSU ideally should handle the 560Ti easily, only risk being that if the PSU is old its efficiency probably has come down and is not same as when it was new (read it somewhere, and probably is true).

Not that the power supply or GPU will explode or something lol. If the power supply is overloaded, the system experiences impromptu shut downs. Quite sure that the VX can take some extra load without much issues - used to see some reviews before when the HX620 used to be loaded to 120% and worked just fine.

Either way a new power supply is warranted when he upgrades his processor. Possibly when the Ivy Bridge series is out.

Well that has been suggested,if've read the earlier posts..
why dont you sell off your vx450 and add that to your existing budget and get a 560ti and s12ii 620 combo

Yes with everything maxed out i mean,HD 6870 performs equally or slightly better than HD5870-http://www.anandtech...duct/290?vs=294 which is price almost double compared to hd6870,If you're getting HD6870 then get a new Seasonic S12ii 520w-3.6k by that way you can OC your HD6870 and achieve results as good as GTX560 non ti version OR the best way is sell your existing VX450 for 2k or more add 1k for psu and get the best deal GTX560ti+Seasonic S12ii 520w which will give you 40-45 fps maxed out.

Well now that's assuring,This is a great test and a hope for me if it works out,i'll add HD6950 to my VX450

Well that has been suggested,if've read the earlier posts..

i did dude:) out of all the suggestions this one seemed the best.. it will give you oc headroom if you need it.. also since you will be pumping your comp full of HDD's it is advisable to have such a psu..

your system on load will utilize around 490w.. this was calculated using e8400(stock), two sticks ddr2, 560Ti, 3HDDs, three 120mm fan.. using extreme.outervision.com

A psu must be selected in such a way that at any given time only 60 percent of its advertised wattage is used, even at max load.. this improves the longevity of the components(including psu) and also causes less heat and has maximum efficiency resulting in lower bills. Now do you understand why you need the 620:)

If you keep using the 450, you will not only cause it to fail but it may also take other components with it

Jonny says it should be fine. I don't think we should argue with anyone else now.
