In what could turn out to be the mother of all casting scoops, Rachel Bilson has landed a pivotal — some would say legendary — role in How I Met Your Mother’s 100th episode.

Last month, exec producer Craig Thomas told me that the milestone episode (airing in January) would feature “some serious mother action,†adding, “It’ll be the closest Ted’s ever come to [discovering who she is]. He’s getting a step closer every episode this season, and episode 100 [we] kind of go bananas with it.â€

Thomas went on to say that he and fellow exec producer Carter Bays have been “spending a lot of time trying to cast the female role in Ted’s story for episode 100″ — a role a Mother insider confirms has gone to Bilson.

Couldn't care less. This show hasn't been much good since the first season. Even Bleach doesn't drag this much :D

Mate, such sitcoms need to go at this pace to have some kind of continuation.

Agreed, there were some dull episodes.

The latest season is quite promising.

Dude seriously! stop with your stupid compusive over moderation :@ Its irritating now

'some dull episodes'? the show has gone down the toilet after so many seasons, and now there are only a few good episodes. and those are mostly to do with the insanity of neil patrick harris.

i really do wish these shows had good writing. ideas that are great in season 1 start dragging out in later seasons and sometimes continue until the point when you just question why they are still around. more and more shows over the past few years have become victims to this phenomena.

take this particular example. do we even care anymore about who the mother turns out to be? the title itself has become an albatross for this show. it has no relevance to a non existent overarching plot for the series. as much as i would hate good shows to end early (after a season or two), i would definitely prefer it to dragging them on ad infinitum.

Quite true.

Well, hope they step up the writing and consistency till we find out how he met the mother. :P

A good example of consistently entertaining : TBBT :hap2:

^ I agree, but it seems to be picking up now. The last ep was pretty ok.

if by last ep you mean the 2nd ep, then I really don't see how the show is picking up.
HIMYM is turning out to be like one of those saas bahu soaps which never get near the actual storyline and continue to dish out mindless episodes which aren't even funny anymore. :@

Even Scrubs is pretty consistent considering how long it has run. Never expected it to get renewed though :D

ahhhuuuooollllaaaggghhh. That was the sound of me puking :P
scrubs is POS, super monotonous

Thank god! there are people out there who think HIMYM is way past its prime! I actually didnt like its after season 2 [even s02 was not that great]
But most of my friends LOVE the show even to this day... :S

The best entertaining show at the moment is TBBT
