AMD rumored to ship UVD-disabled Radeon HD 2400 for emerging markets

AMD originally planned an official release of its Radeon HD 2400 graphics chip with version A13, but an UVD (Unified Video Decoder) error in that particular rendition was discovered, causing release of the chip to be delayed until June of this year ... AMD disabled the UVD function of the A13 version chips and sent them to some OEM graphics card makers for launch in emerging markets, noted the sources ... [AMD responded ] it could not comment on the shipment details of its partners.

AMD software let defective graphics cards slip into the channel

AMD's official graphics card diagnostic and validation software was recently discovered to have a bug that failed to detect defective ATI Radeon HD 2400 and 2600 graphics cards, according to sources at graphics card makers.
Channel vendors pointed out the problem with the cards was due to an error in the BIOS application process.
