Post apocalyptic action at its best! id software announced that Rage will be out Q3 2011! :eek:hyeah:

The live playthrough was featured across all the 3 platforms - the PC, PS3 and X360 and the game demoed on all the platforms at a consistent 60fps! The game looked the best on the PC needless to say and loaded faster on the same platform, followed by the X360 and the PS3. There's still plenty of time left until the launch and id is expected to polish the game further.

Apart from the primary FPS genre, the game also features driving and racing gameplay such as those found in Burnout series. Players can upgrade their cars from the money earned through previous races. The game might as well feature RPG elements and an inventory akin to the one found in Borderlands.

The game will be the first to use id software's proprietary id Tech 5 engine followed by Doom 4 and perhaps Quake 5!

Rage Demoed Simultaneously on all Three Platforms; 60 FPS Across the Board - Shacknews

The trailer doesn't speak much and isn't all that impressive but when id brings out a title, rest assured the game is got to be kick ass, coming from the developers of the FPS genre! Not to mention it would bring any high-end systems to its knees. :p

Crap! I thought Todd Hollenshead would make a mention of Doom 4 as promised during the Quakecon 2009 and ended up with Rage's release date. :\

In other news, Crysis 2 gets a release date - March 22, 2011 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is in the works as we speak, confirms GSC Gameworld. :eek:hyeah:

yey.. me likes ... me likes.. :yahoo:

So now the countdown for some of the best visually enhanced games begins.. :p

DOOM 4 outta be better than Rage visually as Carmack intends it to be 30Hz with more pixels cramped in less number of frames, opposed to 60fps of Rage.

I missed live feed of Quakecon this year, any news on brink?reception on Quakelive subscription? I found some of the new maps in quakelive were down right shitty

Exact release dates:
Day 2 of Quakecon 2010 brought exciting news about id Software's RAGE FPS game as they announced the release dates for U.S. and European markets. The U.S. release date is Sept. 13, 2011 and the Europe release date is Sept. 15, 2011

Anyone see the little demo they ran of Rage on the iPhone? :O it was (for a phone).. smooth 60fps as well.
Haha yes Carmack demoed a version for the iPhone on the iOS 4 and ran butter smooth. The game ports to OSX and Linux as well which btw is a norm for the games developed by id. :p

Official website is updated! :D

RAGE features intense first-person shooter action, breakneck vehicle combat, an expansive world to explore and jaw-dropping graphics powered by id’s revolutionary id Tech 5 technology. Set in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid impacts Earth, you emerge into a vast wasteland to discover humanity working to rebuild itself against such forces as bandit gangs, mutants, and more. From the pioneers of first-person shooter gameplay, RAGE promises an experience like no other.

Reminds me of Borderlands
My POV is Rage doesn't remind me of Borderlands, rather Borderlands would remind me of Rage:bleh:
idTech is the single most kickass game developer IMO(other than valve)
Going by their track record(Quake, Doom), they may well redefine the upper limit of kickassery

Awesome concept
1)Post apocalyptic world
2)Mutant Baddies
3)First Person shooter
4)Racing

any words on the minimum system requirements?:ashamed:

AFAIK none so far.

OT: The book Masters of Doom is an excellent read about id and its founders John Carmack and John Romero. :)

Am I the only one who thinks it looks like crap? Of course, the game will feature great technical advancements but the art direction seems rather poor. They've still got that unrealistic plastic look and feel that plagued Doom 3 and Quake 4.

True, but I really liked DOOM3 and I think the RAGE game will be awesome to play with... I'm sure they can improve the textures (colours etc) to make it more eerie/realistic by the time its released.
