I have a new HP Pavilion a1520n which has an ASUS A8N-LA motherboard with an award bios. This is a AMD Athelon 64x2 board with a fast SATAII 300 capable 250 mb drive. I wanted RAID 1 security so I installed a PCI RAID controller and a drive identical to mine to mirror. The RAID drivers were detected under SCSI in hardware manager after install. The mirror was copied, the RAID array created, and it was visible to the BIOS. When I tried to boot from the array I got "disk read error. Press cnt-alt-del...". I could not boot from a single drive in the PCI controller either - same error message. However, I can boot from either drive plugged into the motherboard SATA controller and they appear to be identical. Any ideas?
