Railways users. How to confirm a ticket in IRCTc?

Going to go to bhopal on 31 may to see my Gf. Train showing RLWL 32 for 3rd ac and RLWL 14 for 2nd ac. I booked both trains. I would use sleeper class but too hot these days in night also. What chance my 3rd ac will be confirmed so i cn cancel the expensive 2nd ac ticket? I din wanna wait for ticket for tatkal as that too will cost like 2nd ac ticket only. What to do guys?

Its not a manual process. It's alloted automatically once the original confirmed birth person cancels his seat. Given the vacation nature right now its difficult to get a confirmed birth but you never know you might be the lucky one.
Also confirming ones ticket also depends on the route and rush.

To add my aunt cancelled two tickets as those were WL & RAC. She went via Volvo.

You should try for Tatkal @11 am.
You will get SMS from IRCTC when seat is confirmed with seat number and other details.
