Hello all,I m in a big confusion,as of my sig i have 2 sticks of transcend 1gb ddr2 667mhz ram running on dual channel mode on my MSI P45 NEO.

I want to add ram i m conisdering the following options:

  1. Add another 1 or 2 gb stick to current setup.will it screwup dual channel mode or any other problems show up due to it.:S
  2. If i get a good deal on 2x2gb ram kit, sell my current rams & buy newone.
:cool2:

I am using win7ultimate 32bit and will be not upgrading my current rig for another year.

thats right, just look out in the market section for some 4gb kit, you might suck a kit for 2k, next just sell off your ram sticks.

Just keep in mind that 32-bit os can use a max of 3.25gb ram, so upgrade your os to its 64-bit version

You can try getting 2*1GB off DDR2 667mhz and that wouldn't screw up your dual channel, though dual channel doesn't provide huge performance gaps in day to day applications.

I have done the same thing. I had two 512MB ram running in dual channel, and wanted to upgrade. I got a 1GB, put it in one channel, and the two 512 in the other channel. You can get one 2GB stick and run it in one channel and the other two 1gigs in the other channel. Both of them would then run at the lowest speed of the entire setup.

Performance impact is minimal and you will need to switch to a 64bit os to make full use of all 4gigs.
