Got a transcend 512Mb DDR333 module for 2850/- in mumbai ! My dealers says the drop in ram prices will take some time to come into effect.

Not so.Ram is usually cheaper in port towns like Mumbai as compared to Delhi.Stalkersoftware said:Not from Delhi. But in Delhi you should be able to get this for 2.2k.
undertaker said:Well actually it will do 250mhz if u have a board that does it.Delhi prices for genuine hynix are still >2.5k for 512mb and >1.4k for 256mb.Which chip did u get on ur hynix? My 256mb has the -d43 one.
Not true(that generalization about Kingston Value Ram). The KVR400 Mhz out in India is not good. Some KVR333/400 uses winbond BH/CH chips and they easily hit 400+ at low latency.funkymonkey said:Kingston Value RAM is one of the worst overclocker.
Brand name wise Transcend is good but if you ask me Hynix chips are really good. On a8n sli 4d3 will do 250Mhz 1:1 at 3volts. Thats tested by me just today as i got home from college.
I will test it on p4p800dlx tomorrow when i get time.
The problem is finding a genuine dealer which keeps genuine Hynix

TheMask said:i bot a Hynix DDR400 512MB stick last night.. it says D43 on it.. damn thing wont do even 208MHz (DDR416) at Vdimm 2.9V
It costs 2550 here..
JediMaster said:Based on my experiments with KVR 400 which I got from the US (w/ Promos/Mosel chips), those numbers look correct.
2 x 512 MB double-sided KVR 400 in dual-channel mode can be oc-ed to 223MHz (DDR446) at 2.5-3-3-6 at 2.55V comfortably. Slighly better than Corsair Value Select. The good thing about this RAM is that it doesn't seem to mind the DDR366 divider (not perhaps officially recognized by AMD) which when used in conjunction with my mobo gets the theoretical bandwidth at CPU speed of 2400 MHz.
I'm not sure about Transcend in dual channel mode though. If someone here has done it, especially on a 939 mobo, then I'd request them to post their true findings for the benefit of all others planning to buy this RAM. Reason bcoz, IIRC, I read not long ago on Chip mag that they couldn't get Transcend to OC > 210MHz. Probably an isolated batch but it is better to be safe .....
But then there is no doubt that there is nothing like true Hynix chips if you can get hold of 'em ! I bought the KVR simply because there were many rumors early last year that there were fake Transcend and Hynix in circulation in India. And for the price I paid for the KVR at that time, you could get some real exotic RAM now :ashamed: !
