CPU/Mobo RAM prices (What the ...)

I remember I purchased a DDR2 800 Mhz in 2008 for 2K approx and than another last year for something less than that.

this is the RAM,(good bad, let it be :bleh:)

What happened exactly that now it is selling for this much? just the dollar rate or what? especially considering DDR3 is in market, prices should go down isn't it.

P.S.: Haven't found appropriate section for it and hence post it here (considering CPU & MB are the real relatives of RAM :)
 
You just bought RAM during a time when the industry had over supply issues. A big maker of memory chips went under... basically, a series of complicated events caused the prices to be uber low. As they say, good things never last XD. While RAM is a bit on the higher side now, its a lot closer to what it actually should be selling for.

Do a few searches for further reading if it interests you.
 
The Production of ddr2 Is almost extinct as Ddr3 has come up, when there is less production and more demand the prices go up...Like how Ddr1 Is Expensive Now..
 
Its about time for DDR2 to roll over & die... DDR3 should start to become mainstream now.. .

2GB DDRII 800MHz RAM cost was Rs.1100 in May-June-July of 2009 :P Those who got 4GB for 2.2k then were lucky blokes :)

I bought 8 sticks of 2GB DDR2 Corsair 800mhz 5-5-5-15 for 1.2k :P
 
Yeah, me too, got 2GB DDR2 ram for Rs. 1100 1 year ago and now, the rates are more than double.In Delhi, its around Rs. 2700~2800 for 2 GB DDR2 and around Rs. 3000 for DDR3.
That's really strange.
And you might have noticed that due to increase in primary memory price, the price of graphic card also got raised. When i purchased the RAM, i asked for the price of 9400GT 1GB DDR2 and the price was around Rs. 2000~2100. But after 2-3 months the price increased to Rs. 2500 and now they are selling it for Rs. 2800~3000(price not exact as they update daily....as told to me by a dealer in Janak Puri)

Actually it was a part of 10 sticks of which I kept two & rest went to friends..

10x 2GB sticks @ 700bucks each... :bleh:

@hailstone, you r the real hero here in getting the best deal in RAM.
A corsair RAM for just 700.... i cant believe that.
Well i hope these increased prices will drop soon.

Just checked the bill and ya, even the one I bought was for 1150 bucks, I would have bought two as their is some incompatibility issue with the first dimm but anyways.
 
^ Nah. That was 4.5K odd iirc. 3K plus refund due on 2GB kit. :)

The 4GB Ballistix you have were simply insane, esp if i think of it now- thanks to one super awesome chap.

Recently Buygamingstuff sold 2gb corsair DDR2 gaming memory for 2100 shipped. That was also a very good deal. Presently best deal in 2775 on ebay. After 20% coupn it will come down further.
