Laptops RAM upgarde for HD video editing

Hi all,

Premiere Pro CS5 often hangs when doing HD video editing when the project has lots of stuff (HDSLR HD files, after effects files, transitions/plugins, etc.). Mainly coz I have to run it on on-board GPU (http://www.techenclave.com/laptops/laptop-shuts-off-due-over-136146/)

So, along-with getting GPU prob solved at repair shop, do you recommend upgrading the RAM as well? 2x4GB 1066mhz sticks? Currently its 2x2GB 1066mhz. If yes, please suggest me brand/model (will mostly buy from Lamington road or online). I guess my laptop will support 8 GB max: Intel® Core? i5-460M Processor (3M Cache, 2.53 GHz)

On that page, its written "Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type): 8 GB"

"dependent on memory type" means?

Anyway, I'm using Win7 64bit & my laptop specs:

(i5 460m 2.53 ghz, 4gb ram DDR3 1066MHZ, 500gb HDD 7200rpm, Nvidia® Geforce™ GT 330M, 1GB Graphics)

Please suggest how much total RAM should I upgrade to & which brand/model.

Thanks in advance :)

If you wanna put 1600 Mhz , go ahead with it but run it at 1066Mhz only if your motherboard doesnt support more than that or supports it as an Over Clock .
Have had personal experience , using in over clocking settings , the motherboard might tend to create more heat in the surroundings although the ram can handle it because it was made with those specifications . Even a switch from 1066 to 1333 created more heat , my ram is 1600 Mhz rated .

Also most laptop guys can easily replace rams , am not sure if many would be able to solve this overheating problem . Better show it to someone experienced .
Cheers

Read that RAM helps a lot during video editing, hence will mostly go with 2x4GB 1066mhz sticks. Please suggest brand/model for the same, will be buying mostly tomorrow from Lamington Road.

Thanks :)
