I have a Hynix 512MB 400Mhz DDR1 RAM with probably following latency
3-3-3-8 chk the attachment ....
Am buying another RAM frm TE ... which he says has latency 2.5-3-3-6 ... which has a lesser latency and can work in Dual mode ... can i make a deal .....

nope it wont work in dual channel mode..even i was in the same situation like yours..

i too had Hynix 512MB 400Mhz DDR1 RAM with 3-3-3-8 latency..

and den i bought a KINGSTON DDR1 400 Mhz with a different latency ..somthin like 2.5-3-3-7

bit the ram didnt work in dual channel mode..only is single channel ..when the PC boots..during that INTEL boot screen it shows that two RAM sticks must be identical so that they work in dual channel mode..

i have exactly da same RAM which ur lookin for ..and maybe if i sell that to you i can get matching pair for my kingston ..

not sure if i am selling it ..

but have a look ..is this what you are looking for ?

one more query my RAM is 400MHz it shows 400Mhz in the BIOS ... but here in CPU-ID info it shows 200Mhz ... wats that ...

see this

sanolution, if you can get both sticks to run at 400MHz 3-3-3-8, they will run in dual channel mode (assuming you install them in the right DIMM sockets).

Which motherboard btw?

even i have the same motherbaord.. intel 865gbf

have put both the sticks in the parallel slots

ie-Channel A diim0 and channel A dim1

but still during boot it gives an error saying it will work in dual channel only if they are exactly the same sticks..

i tried adjusting the timings but .. am not understanding anything..if i put the timings on manual and then restart PC doesnt boot it hangs at the boot screen so i need to reset the BIOS.

ohk .i will take a few pics of the BIOS manual ram timings MENU and post it here..maybe u guys will be able to help me in setting the same timings manually.

@RiO

mine is Intel 865GBF ... it has 4 RAM slots

Intel Desktop boards will not run 2 sticks with different timings in dual channel mode, especially when CAS latencies itself differ - if both had the same timings (or CAS latency), they'd run flawlessly. And because you can't manually set the timings in the BIOS, you'd need to look for another DDR400 stick with the same rated timings.
