My Computer Just Shuts Itself Off Randomly. Can Happen Any Time From Booting To Say...Half Hour(If I'm Lucky).Afterwards,The Power Supply Has To Be Manually Switched Off And Then Back On Again,Or Else It Won't Start. Also,After Shut Down,A Strange Noise Comes From The CPU,Which Goes Away After The Power Off-On Routine.
It's Been There For A Half Year,But Has Exacerbated In The Past 10 Days.
What Am I To Do?The Processor Is A 4 Year Old AMD Athlon XP...

Any Help Would Be Appreciated.Thanks.

overheating due to change in weather.

get ur cabinet, cpu heatsinks /ns cleaned.

may also be due to psu.local psu suffer from capacitor fatigue after some time. wat psu do u have?

I Use A Numeric UPS For Power Supply.
However,When The Problem Still Persists Even If I Connect It Directly To The Power Source.
And Overheating Just 10 Seconds Into Booting?

not UPS, the SMPS/PSU inside your PC ! ! !

but i also agree with the dirt/dust possibility causing overheating...

it might be ur Processor fan goes wrong or heavily dirty... clean all of it and use a suitable PSU for stable work...

I had same problem, change system (suggest from dealer), next day same issue with new system, contact to dealer he suggest to check wiring and all that, nearly spend 3/4 thousand on wiring + time waste, no gain, finally replace Local SMPS with Power Safe 400 gold, 14 months passed away never shut it again (without my will and power failure).

Sense of story ..... CHANGE PSU (SMPS) :)
