Rate the Last Movie You Saw...

So just watched Avatar 2 halfway through in IMAX. The theatre where I went played the HFR version, and only 2-3% on the movie was in normal frame rate.
Unfortunately, the HFR looks too hyper realistic, like the whole sequence is happening in your backyard. Colors look muted compared to normal frame rate. The 3D in HFR doesn't add much, but due to HFR , there was no"cinematic" vibe to it. Felt like watching a documentary. There's a visible lack of depth and impact when watching HFR vs normal frame rate.
Will likely watch it again in 2D in a theatre running normal frame rate.
Really hope this does not start HFR trend in the industry. Just cannot stand it.

Rewatched Shawshank Redemption with a friend hadn't watched it. 9/10 for me. It's a movie that you can revisit any number of times without it getting any less exhilarating. I only wish that I could get to watch it on the big screen someday.

It's paced very well and the buildup for every twist is great. Definitely would recommend everyone to watch it, if they haven't already. It's a timeless classic.

Avatar 2 - I didn't felt any of the wow factor. This brings nothing new from the 1st movie and with an even weaker story and characters. Under water scenes are something new, but I'm glad that I didn't pay 1850rs for that in IMAX.

Saw the Avatar 2 in the Imax without HFR or HDR. Pune has only one Imax screen and if felt highly underwhelming. It didn't do much justice. The sound effects were also poor in this poor Imax. I have watched avatar 1 in Mumbai's wadala imax and so maybe I was expecting a lot more. It felt like original frame rate was indeed 48 but our screen dropped it to 24. It felt jerky. Somebody worked in VFX, cinematography will understand what I mean.

Videos that are originally 24 FPS, have motion blur wrt to its frame rate. 48 FPS video will have less motion blur. That's why removing every other from 48 FPS doesn't make it smooth 24 FPS. Without extra processing, 24 FPS will feel a lot jerky. And that's what happened at IMAX.

I think, I'll watch it at some other regular theater.

BTW, what happened to wadala Imax? it's not on BMS anymore.

Avatar: The Way of Water - 7/10

Watched in IMAX and came out exhausted. They should have cut down the length of the movie by a good 20 to 25mins. Technically brilliant as always for a James Cameron movie. The story is very much repetitive as first part except that it is in water instead of forest. So there is going to be a sequel in another 8 to 10 years maybe this time it will be in sky or space but definitely the story needs to be strong in the next sequel even though it has roped up $1.558 billion worldwide (Wow)

Part 3 is coming next year, part 4 in 2026

Knives Out (Glass Onion) - Found it a bit better than Knives Out. Sleekness and Quirkiness is there in it's pleasant form. Cast is fabulous.

They have improved on first attempt and have been succesful in creating the Blanc franchise. The first one was average at best, this has been improved to above average to good. Not worth the hype around it, but not unworthy of a watch.

Definitely wouldn't be mentioned in a same Breath with Mona Lisa! ;)

Drishyam2 Hindi but as I had already watched Original Drishyam2 (with sub-titles), didn't find it exciting.
Maverick = and now this guy is ready with MI - part N

It's been a while since I posted in this thread. Yesterday I saw a movie that compelled me to write about it and recommend it.

The movie is called - Nazar Andaaz.

The movie started off as a comedy and by the middle of it you can guess what is coming but the beauty of the journey and the aftermath will leave a lasting impression.

The only thing I can say is Nazar Andaaz movie ko Nazar Andaaz mat karna

Batman: The Return of the Caped Crusaders!
A strong 9/10 IMO!

Excellent performance by Adam West (didn't expect anything less) returning to the role that made him famous, and the plot is just ultra-hilarious. I was chuckling the whole way through and on one occasion (ask if you want spoilers) I actually paused it so I could lol without missing out on the next bid :)

I warmly recommend this one to any Batman and comedy fans alike!

Oldboy(2003) it's a Korean film
A really good watch even tho i struggle with subtitles. The story is really interesting specially for someone who likes thriller/mystery alot.
A good 8/10

Just finished watching Quantumania.

6/10.

Predictable.
Less humorous.
Theatre was half empty on Sunday noon. Shows lack of interest in Marvel movies.
