Yesterday while going back home from office, my bike suffered a puncture wherein a very long nail got inside the tyre immediately puncturing it. I had to change the tube altogether and put a dunlop 100/90/18 tube. The tyre too developed a hole but the mechanic did manage to patch it from inside.
But i think it will be a better idea to change the tyre also.
So can anyone suggest me which tyre to go for and how much would be the approximate cost ??
Currently i have the MRF Nylon Zapper 100/90/18 (IIRC) tyre.

Re: Rear tyre for Honda Unicorn ???

go for MRF Nylon Zapper 130/80:18-->1850INR(approx). Recently me and my cousin bought one for his unicorn.

Re: Rear tyre for Honda Unicorn ???

Please, please dont go for 130/80 -18.... It's too big and is totally pointless for the Unicorn.

If you can get the M45, get it in 3.25x18 or 3.50x18.

Best size and tyre for the Unicorn.

Otherwise, just get the Zapper again. But the M45 is brilliant. Am using it on the front and rear of my P180 and loving it.

Re: Rear tyre for Honda Unicorn ???

I am total noob when it comes to tyres...so Nikhil in what terms are they better ??

I checked that M45 are from Michelin. So now what is a better option for me from Michelin M45 and MRF Nylon Grip zapper ??
Also i suppose the M45 are costlier (by about 500-700 rupees) than the zapper.

Also will the shop guy (from where i get the tyre) fit the tyres for me ?? :ashamed:

Michelin M45 uses soft rubber compound so it is pron to punctures but has better grip and durabilty.

you can go for Zapper Q 120/80 or 110/80 depending upon the width you like. Zapper Y is also decent enough.
All Zappers have ok ok types grip, though for normal use that are fine. They also last pretty long.

Re: Rear tyre for Honda Unicorn ???

Yesterday i enquired at a shop near my office while sells MRF accessories. He quoted me 1500 rupees for the 100/90/18 MRF zapper. Now i did not know about this Q and Y as Utkarsh mentioned. What difference does it make and which one should i go for ????
Is the price mentioned above correct or is the dealer ripping me off ?? :S

if you have alloy wheels, then why not a tubeless tyre?

Michelin M45 is good, Michelin says it's not tubeless, but some guys use it w/o tube.

MRF Zapper Q tube type is good too.

IRC has 100/90 and 110/90R18 tubeless tyres

I went to another MRF dealer near my home and he told me that the MRF Nylon zapper Y is for 1600 rs. He told it is tube + tyre set. Now i did not know this :ashamed:

He told me that if he removes the tube then price would be Rs. 1450.

I will ask again the earlier shop whether the 1500 is for tyre

+ tube or not.

But considering only tyre..how much should it cost ??

So finally..which one ??? Nylon zapper (current having that only) or the M45 ??
