I was searching for something and stumbled upon this topic. This is an year old topic, but still I feel accurate IMO. Apologizes if this has been discussed earlier.

Despite owning both, Android and Apple devices, I feel I am having best of both worlds. The no. of complains with my Android are very less [battery etc] and same are more with iPhone. But I still feel Android needs bit more improvements [hardware optimization battery], may be, give or take 6 months, it will fully overtake iOS / Apple, if Apple doesn't do any miracle.

Following article is just awesome, do read it. I liked it because its not biased towards Apple and speaks truth mostly.

Every company has its opponents, but Apple really gets people worked up. Some people hate Apple a lot, more than they hate Nazis or Smurfs. They leave angry comments on Apple blogs. Based on my extensive observations of the species, Apple-haters fall into five categories. If you're an Apple-hater, which one of these categories do you fit in?
You believe buying Apple undermines your individuality.
You hate Apple culture.
You've had a bad experience with Apple products.
Apple isn't right for you.
You hate Apple's closed architecture.

My reason is, they are overpriced. Do pour in your feelings.

^yes.

And problem is Apple's arrogance. Like their recent ad, "If you don't have an iPhone, you don't have an iPhone" [may be just me, who thinks its arrogance ?]

And they behave as if they did something miraculous inventions even if they didn't. Apple likes renaming things, but in name of renaming, they make it they invented something new.

More importantly, Android users. They hate it simply, without any reasons. I know many such fandroids.

I have used both and didn't feel excited / swept away by either of them. Yes they are nice and all, but not great out of the box. At least for me. Going to the AppStore/Market, searching for an app, skimming through thousands of results, trying some of them, and finally narrowing down to one is not my cup of tea.

I think the article is about Apple in general, not just about iPhone.

I have nothing against Apple, but their products are often hideously overpriced. There is also often a strong focus on gloss and show, while personally I care much more about performance and features. Why I should buy a Macbook Pro 15 for $2000 when I can get a better config (not to mention the FHD screen, which is not even an option on the MBP) on the Asus N53 for $1000 is beyond my comprehension. Also, in my experience, they have been quite unreliable - all 4 iPods I had didn't last more than a year.

About arrogance and popularity and all, I don't care, all I care for is the best product at the best price, and Apple comes far too short for my requirements.

The reason why those who love Apple love it because it is priced high. Had it been dirt cheap, it wouldn't be a status symbol and people would have gone with Android or Windows Phone 7. But the very fact that if you can't afford an Apple, means you aren't well off in USA and in India it means you aren't rich if you can't afford it, hence people buy it to stay in their class.

Apple survives because of Steve Jobs Superb Keynotes,Making people believe that they have unearthed something new, revolutionary, that could change the path of humankind.

You got to say,Steve Jobs truly knows how to engross an audience.

I was a apple hater too, that was before i got the macbook pro 13inch,I have been in love with the machine, just because......wait for it...In steve's words.....it just works!

4 iPods? I can understand one mistake, and a repeat one. But after that? :D
Unfortunately, there wasn't much competition in the early iPod era. Creative and Cowon were very bulky. I made one mistake, the other was the replacement. The iPod mini was a little gem - I had two of those. Both worked well for a while, but the battery died out far too quick. But once the Creative Zen Vision: M came out - never looked back!

That's absolute nonsense. There are many who can afford their products worldwide - India included. However, if these folks don't buy an Apple, does that mean they don't have the money?

Highly priced but worth every penny u shed on apple products

Quality or quantity are two different expects, depends what your pocket says

As ridiculous as rite might sound, you will be surprised how much of a status symbol it is in India. Many of my friends have bought iPads just because - they really didn't need it and rarely use it.

We cannot deny the fact that apple really does make good products.
Yes, I do think iPod Mini was a really good product, Macbook Air too. Not convinced about the rest.

But what no one can deny is that Apple really do make good looking, stylish products. No doubt about that one.

Beat this,

My Friend Bought a Locked iphone 4 from UK, and he thinks paying 1500rs for a gevey sim is bullcrap for such a small piece of plastic , and when i asked him "why did you buy it when you cant use it?" .... he Answered " Class"

Class without the Use = Bollocks, Now the day i bought SGS2, My friend liked it and bought a SGS2 and never touched his iphone again, still lies in the cupboard like a certificate of class "Yet unusable" (Im not an Android fanboi, when im saying this)

Apple Makes some Awesome/ Great Products no doubt about that and the amount of innovation that they put into it is commendable , they claim to be 1st with the use of DVD drive... Kudos, But Pricing....... err no Thumbs down !!!

I So Dislike Apple for 2 reasons

1) Overly Priced products which are released ages after its launched elsewhere , its like dumping the leftovers to few unwanted people

2) Closed Architecture, i get ripped off my wallet with an overpriced iphone and at the end what do i get, a Device which has locked bootloader where i cant install what i want (Jailbreak) , When i buy something its my commodity, who are they to restrict me ?

and yet they sue the world cos they think its thier patent, Tissue paper looks white too, thier patent ?? Err... no , an Ipill starts with "i" thier patent... err...no

The Above views are my personal Thoughts which can be subjective based on my experience , Coming from an Ex Apple Employee and a person who has owned an iphone (2g and 3gs),Macbook pro, Mac Mini in the past , and yes i support opensource and always will and a consumer should get to do what he likes when he has paid so much for a commodity

I guess a person who is using apple products knows what value the products are..

I myself I am using iPad 2,iPhone 4 also have iPhone 2g,really very happy with them..

It's up to a human nature what we like and dislike

Paraphrasing a friend, I love Apple products but hate the idea that Apple sells. Especially hate the smug ads. (Mac vs PC. The new iPhone). They also come across as being very hypocritical.

The overpriced thing is a bit off. The iPod, Iphone, Mac Mini, iMac, Mac Book Air are all very competitively priced products. The thing that makes them seem expensive is that their products are not tailored to reach 100% of the market.

On the Open/Closed front, it's simple. I was willing to give up openness on my phone for a large battery life. On my PC, I was not. Some customers are willing, some are not. Why the hate?

My reason:

They don't have basic features in their phone(s). Bluetooth transfer absent? I mean is this 1991?

We don't really Hate Apple, we just don't like it yet.
