Hey guys i m looking for a decent LED tv,
please recommend any from the Samsung or Sony stable, I am getting the D5000 for 53k locally, is it a good deal ?

You should be able to get your hands on the 40D5000 for around 50K with warranty (without the freebies).

I'm in a similar dilemma though; a lot of people are against Samsung LED's - trying to figure out if I ought to go for Samsung, Panasonic or Sony.

In one of the TE threads i have read about LG 32 Inch 3D LED TV for 44,500/-.. Believe me it's true.. Try checking it out... I think the offer was from Letsbuy.com

In the grey market if you can find samsung tvs you cab get a D5500 for around 46k but you mostly won't find grey dealers other then the ones in delhi selling samsung. The samsung series 5 LED-lcd tvs mostly come with a AMVA panel, since to date i haven't found a spva in series 5 tvs such as D5000/D5500.

If you don't mind the lack of video formats such as mkv via usb then you can consider the Sony 40EX520 should be had for 50k or less in the grey market. It has a SPVA panel .

I was interested in the 40EX520, the guy at Sony world was willing to let it go for 60k with some shitty alarm clock.

I think this is the better tv but can i get it for lesser than 60k

They offer almost 15K off on the Samsungs, why such a low discount on Sony TV's?

Samsung MRP price are a joke, highly inflated like those of fire crackers. There street price is always less.

Where as Sony follows their "SURE" program which stands for "Sony Unified Retail Execution" what this means is that Sony authorizes dealers to sell their products only if they sign their sure program which directs dealers to not sell below the directed MAP price, this is done so that small dealers have a chance to compete with large retail outlets which may buy in bulk and sell it at low prices. This way there is no price competition.
And customers also who have poor bargain skills won't get ripped off.

In the US and perhaps even here in india some dealers may give it below the MAP as long as the customers keep the info to themself.
