Need to buy a dashcam which has 2 camera system. One for front for one for rear. Both need to be 1080p minimum. I had got Voifo A129 Duo for my brother's car which is installed by himself (not hardwired) but that I had got from US for approx $160 or so.
It is capacitor based and discrete enough.

Voifo is available in India but their A129 Pro which has 4K resolution is available for 26K which I consider pricey. Are there other options on amazon or flipkart or somewhere else which are not so expensive but still serve well. It needs to be capacitor based and not lithium battery based.
Inbuilt GPS or via an adapter would be nice to have.

Viofo 129 duo is available on banggood for 180usd. Even though it’s China post, there is a risk of customs.
Viofo India has it for 19k.

I am using 70mai and it works good, I bought it from nexdigitron.com their support is good as well.

If Voifo does not work out, that is going to be the one I buy, just that it is battery based. Btw on that website, there is 70mai and DDPAI Z40. Any idea how is the 2nd one?

Btw I contacted an authorized India dealer of Voifo and these are the prices I got...

A119 v3 - 14K with card, UPI/NEFT - 13.5K
A129 Duo G - 19K with card, UPI/NEFT - 18.2K
A129 Plus Duo (16GB Inbuilt memory) - 20K with card, UPI/NEFT - 19.2K
A129 Pro Duo 4K - 24K with card, UPI/NEFT - 23K
A139 3CH - 28K with card, UPI/NEFT - 27K

Any specific reason it has to be dual channel and even then won't 2 cheaper cameras like the DDPai Mini be better and less of a wiring hassle as the rear's wiring doesn't have to go all the way to the front which is usually how it is in dual channel stuff because the recording happens at the front device.

In case of dual channel, yes the wiring from rear will go to front camera. Now I can have 2 individual cameras but then powering the rear one is an issue.

Also with dual channel camera, both the videos are recorded on same MicroSd Card. I personally feel this is more convenient.

One can take power from the rear wiring like the lights for the rear camera. Whereas running wire from back to front will require to take out a lot more of the fittings. I think most installers send the wire through the roof and removing the roof liner and reinstalling will always leave a bad finish compared to factory finish.

Wire from rear to front is DIY. You just need a plier kind of tool (plastic) and you hide wires inside the car. My brother did in his car.

The alternate I guess most people are looking at is the A500S which costs 10.5K on amazon. Does you friend use that and if yes then can you ask him if the rear camera can be removed from its mount for when say we give car for servicing and such?

I am debating between 70mai A500S Pro Plus+ and DDPAI Z40. Only difference I notice is in battery Z40 has capacitor while 70mai is lithium.

One additional thing I would prefer having is a bluetooth remote to capture video/photos.

Any recommendation/suggestion?

Hey, what advantage does this have over dual camera? I do need dual camera but did not consider getting two separate ones. DDPai mini is around 4200 (8400 for two) with hardwire kit so cheaper than Z40

In all dual channel cameras, you have to run the wire from the back to the front device because the recording happens in the front device and I presume it gets powered from the front as well.
If one was to use two different cameras, one can get the power from one of the wires at the back and not have to run a wire all the way to the front. The only issue is that you will have to hardwire it so that it switches on and starts recording when the car starts. If one is taking power from the rear lights, then it might not work until you switch on the lights, so that is something one will have to understand how to do it. In my car, there is already wiring for the rear tray speakers, so I could tap a connection from there, but I personally won't be going for a dual camera setup.

Will this setup record in parking mode too? Do you know if this is doable in Venue pre-facelift edition? I am not skilled for these so I am will have to find a technician to do this for me

The connection with dual camera system is...

Car USB Port / 12v port -> Wire to -> Front Camera -> Wire to -> Rear Camera

So the rear camera is powered through car's USB port / charger but via the front camera. Usually these are proprietary ports too. I personally feel that installing separate camera a rear will be more cumbersome than just buying a dual channel one. Also, not all cars have music stereo connections at back (especially hatchbacks) and have door speakers.

You could try all that but personally, I am not going to bother with all the DIY and will just get a dual channel dashcam and install it. They are purpose built for such a requirement.

I am using 70mai rearview dashcam, dual recording and an always on rearview camera :p.

I did the installation myself, as I can't see the noobs tearing everything apart in front of my eyes :bored:.

Pretty easy to install, have always worked, Delhi-NCR weather is hot, dual channel recording is good, emergency recording is ok.

I thought I would be missing GPS and all other features that few DDPAI models deliver, but now I am not feeling any use for them. Bought hardwire kit as well, but again its still running on the USB port. Can add images if someone needs them.
