Graphic Cards Red Shimmering/Artifacts all over display

A few minutes after my computer starts up I get these red lines all over my display. Very rarely do these not show up. A few minutes into a game I experience graphics corruption coupled with red lines, etc. and eventually more often than not the computer locks up.

What could be the problem, I monitored the graphics card temperatures and there were never above the low 50's at all times. Could this be a bad PSU problem or something else?
I've tried dusting and re-seating the card in it's slot a million times already.
I tried the same card (an XFX 7800GT 256MB) on a friend's rig and it ran perfectly.

I'd highly appreciate your help.

Please read before posting. :| :|

Anyway, I feel it could be a PSU issue....what is your complete system specs ??

the screenshot does indicate that he has a card on its last legs .. but the fact that it works fine on another system has me stumped
what psu is your friend using.. try and see if you can borrow it for a few days and give it a shot

I have a 450W PSu, I dont really know what make. I think it's powercolor or trucolor or something.
My friend has an Antec PSU. I guess I'll check the PSU.

COuld it be a mobo problem?

PSU is the main culprit.

the other thing could be temperature. check your system, ambient, cpu and gpu temps while this happens.

i also had a similar problem and it turned out to be heat. i changed the psu and still it happened and i reapplied the thermal paste and added an exhaust fan.

Mobo problem? Not likely. Don't want to scare you but I was running a 350W PSU (el cheapo variety) and it fried my 7600GS. So make the switch and try another PSU before its too late. Remember to post back your results in this thread.
