My friend got a new Ati HD5670 card.
This is his first Ati card.
He has 22" LCD which support 1920x1080@60Hz and 1600x900@75Hz available with nvidia card and on board intel VGA).
But,for Ati catalyst 11.4 there is no option except 60HZ at lower resolution.....:S
Even there is no option of refresh rate change at any game he playing.
OS is XP 32bit.
Is this the problem with Ati driver(as all said ati driver sucks) or he have to change any setting which is hidden ?
Please help!

The ATI driver is not kicking in for some reason. Did he do a clean install, or atleast use Driver Sweeper Pro to switch from green to red..?

Could not find any option other than 60Hz @1600x900.

It's a clean install with new XP OS.

Got Dual link DVI.

His old card is 7600GT and got Intel G31 board both can handle 75Hz@1600x900 without any problem.

And the new Ati card got no other problem except this refresh rate.

Even tried with a separate PC too.

BTW,any one using LCD at low resolution except its native resolution with Ati card here ?.....

Its a common issue. My friends have monitor of 24in but they too said its the max they are getting. Then whats the problem with 60hz? You can either set the refresh rate from your monitor itself is it has that option. It too isnt bad either.

Open CCC and in display properties there is option EDID disable it,set manual settings of your choice.

Its a AOC 22" LCD.
So,how to change refresh rate from monitor ?
Desktop resolution 1920x1080@60Hz but game at low resolution but no option available other than 60Hz.
And game looks ugly to him(no idea about other people's eyes though, even I feel same) at that lower resolution with 60Hz.
And please don't tell to play at 1080P cos HD5670 not made for that.

Nicely explained using images.

But,the main problem here is there is neither "Attributes" nor "Monitor Property 0" option showing.....:S

So,failed to disable "EDID" option.

But,the LCD detected and its showing at CCC.

Do I have to select Display or have to detect display in other way ?

Why no "Monitor Property 0" here ?

Version of CCC is 11.4

Yea,monitor model is not showing at Device Manager(only show as Plug & Play) but strange thing is that it showing at CCC.

BTW,I tried to download driver from your link and from US site too but got only 6K size zip file.....:S

When I extract got a .cat,a .inf and a .icm files.

No exe file.

How to install that ?

I have installed driver using driver update from Device Manager(method at AOC page was not working) and succeed.
But,something really wrong with the system.
Monitor now detected at Device Manager but at CCC "Attached Display Currently Disable"......:S
the Enable option is not highlighted.
Tried to click on "Detect Display" button at CCC but its not working.

try to do "restore factory reset/defaults" from "help" button.

then try again.

but i dont think if you increase the refresh rate to 75Hz, you'll see any difference in gaming perf.

since games on 5670 are not going to reach above 40-50 fps, then why the need for increase of LCD's?

CCC shows 75Hz for my DELL too, but officially the DELL supports max of only 60Hz :P

so maybe there is something wrong in AMD's end

^^He's right you know...even if there are games that you're maxing out beyond 60fps you should just turn up the resolution or eye candy and enjoy the graphics.

Yea,I think too that its fault of Ati driver.
And talking about difference between gaming at 1600x900@60Hz and 1600x900@75Hz is not about more fps.
Its for my eyes only.
At 75Hz image looks more sharp and vibrant to me.
Don't know AMD gonna fix this bug in near future or not.....

hmm

just now tried 75Hz, but resolution that is supported at 75Hz is 1280x1024 for me (CCC automatically selected it)

so, select the 75Hz from drop menu, CCC should automatically show max. resolution supported at 75Hz
nVidia does show lot of resolutions, jut connected my laptop (m8600gs) with DELL
