a dent on the outer skin during transportation, barely visible to the discerning eye, knock of 3-4k from the mrp :P

thats why...

I have seen them usually on company's godawn/ service center in March-April here in Lucknow. Maybe the same policy apply in Banglore too.

bro, beware when treading on the dark and ugly lane of factory seconds,

You never know what might have actually been wrong wit the unit previously an hence a problem could spring up any time..

So U still really think its worth the 10-15% discount??

These seconds refrigerators are new machines not the refurbishished one. These machines have dents on door/body while transportation and which can not be removed without chaging the door/body. There is no damage to internal machinery. So the company sells these machines at arround 30% discount of the showroom price and with full warranty.
But please please please, stay away from "Electrolux", either it is seconds or a new one.

why whats wrong with electrolux, they are second largest home appliance manufacturer in the world after whirpool.

I have Electrolux washing machine and refrigerator bought on the same day. The washing machine is repaired two times till now. The dryer lid is replaced two times in 4 years and for the third time I removed it permanently because I cant bear 450/- one more time. Some assembly in dryer was replaced and costed me 850/-. Total damage 1750/- and still counting. My mom has Videocon washing machine which is older than this electrolux. Till date no problem, no damage, no maintenance, nothing. touchwood.

Now about Electrolux fridge. We have 285 liters Ozone series refrigerator with clock model. This fridge is repaired three times till now. Its timer went bad in 6 months. It was in warranty so no damage. After two years its timer went bad again which costed us 650/- (timer + service charges). Then last year in september its timer(again) and thermostat went bad which costed us 1350/-. Total damage till date 2000/-. My 17 yrs old 165 ltr Voltas is still working great with total maintenance cost ~600/- till date. again touchwood. This is why Im against the Electrolux.

If it is still not enough then check this link
Complaints Board | Electrolux India

And check the mouthshut reviews about electrolux products. Everybody is complaining.

How is Haier as a brand? Never saw them much in shops but too many of them on offer on the net.

One dealer in my city quote "Koi bhi brand le lo magar Haier ko haath mat lagaana, pata nahin kab market se bhaag jaye".

I found some good features with Haier products, but have no user experience nor find any Haier product in any house known to me.

Same was the case with aiwa 4-5 years back. I still own a aiwa product which is comparable to double priced products of other companies. It was working as good as new till a power surge got it down. But cant deny the fact that aiwa indeed vanished now.

Sometimes we do get awesome stuff at throw away rates from such companies. Still as u said, cant trust them.

aiwa is now owned by sony.

Haier is a Chinese Company that has an amazing focus on quality. I read an article on them in Newsweek sometime back. Plus it does really well in the US.

Mumbai Thane guys -> Godrej has a shop near Gaodevi Mandir in Thane (Behind Ram Maruti Rd.) as well as a seconds shop at their Vikhroli Plant - from EE Highway Entrance, where you can get furniture seconds too. Cost reduction can be 10-60% depending on the reasons. They are very polite and clear about why the unit is in seconds. Also be aware that many people check up for this regularly, so if u spot something u like, better grab it right away.

i think Videocon handles service for videocon, electrolux, whirlpool, kelvinator, & akai brands. so quality would go for a toss for these brands since the company wouldn't care when so many brands under it now.

Hello.

My knowledge of this industrial process, integral to my (and your) daily life, birthplace of most everything around us, is something of which my only knowledge was arrived at second-hand, via parody. And that is why it feels like a sort of communion, this assembly line. It’s the same sort of thrill one gets going backstage at a play or a concert. It is a great and terrible church, this, but everyone seems happy enough.

Surprisingly, three-quarters of the workers—around 3,000 people—are women: many of the area’s men have gone to work in the United States. Some operate machines that automate the simpler tasks (more men than women here); some perform more complicated tasks manually. I don’t know which part to be more amazed by: the robots that act almost as people, or the people who act almost as robots. I’m told they change jobs on the assembly line every six months to avoid boredom.

After the fridges come off the assembly line, about one in every 20 is pulled off for testing. Some of them are dropped from a height, within their boxes, to test the packaging. Some are put on a vibrating, grated floor, to re-create the trauma of a truck trip.

But by far the most mesmerising is the array of refrigerators, lined up side by side, which have automated metal arms opening and slamming their doors shut every three seconds or so. The goal is to test the hinges, and simulate the openings and closings that would take place over a ten-year life span.

It’s a sensible test, and, every time at home the fridge opens and closes smoothly, I’m grateful manufacturers have tests like this. The doors are slammed just hard enough to suggest a measure of frustration, and I can’t help but wonder if even the robots, plucked from the set of “Fantasiaâ€, have grown bored.
