Hey guys,

Need some quick suggestions :

- Need details of good Tour/Travel Operators in Mumbai. (Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Kanjurmarg to Thane)
- Any personalized feedback will also be great.
- I have the details only of Kesari Tours but the feedback uptil now is, that its costly as compared to others.
- Planning for Honeymoon Tour in Jan End - 7-9 days (Inclusive Travel)

Thanks..!

Plan on your own rather than a tour and travel.
Destination is India or Abroad ?

^ +1 to that. Planning your own trip has its own advantages, and I would definitely recommend it if you are comfortable with the spoken language of the destination.

Kesari is costly, but they offer you complete peace of mind.
And I suppose for Honeymoon Tour you definitely need that.
I agree with you, but still I was hoping for some options before I give in to Kesari's prices.

Destination - India only.. Time / Budget constraints.

Planning on my own should have been way earlier, now I won't even get time to plan my itinerary, hotel bookings, travel bookings etc.

Also places on my mind are - Kashmir i.e Srinagar and around OR Lakshwadeep OR Shimla, Kulu Manali (last choice due to obvious rush).
I haven't been to any of these places before.

look at makemytrip holidays.

Lakshwadeep and Andaman ( Havlock ) are awesome if beaches are the choice.

yatra and makemytrip have local offices where they customize your trips and im sure its negotiable then.

see their website for locations :)

Also, before selecting any particular tour operator, look at the feedback/complaints they have recieved on the net. IMO, best is to DIY. Then you have the choice of doing what you want, rather than doing what has been pre planned.

Oh, and congratulations on getting hitched.

Just browsed through mouthshut... out of 450 review... 90% of the reviews for Makemytrip are BAD... Each experience more horrifying than other...:o..

I thought ok..I mean competitors can also do this to defame the company. But the detail with which the experiences are written.. Its too diff to ignore those...

A person has gone to an extent of creating a website - ruinedmytrip.com detailing his experience..!

Seems like I have dodged a landmine...:o

Online reviews need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Competitors might have a say in it, but the major point is that only frustrated people write reviews, rarely happy customers. At least this is the case in India. My sole experience with them was superb to say the least, as they went out of their way to handle a tricky situation which I myself wasn't aware of.

^^ but u really wouldn't want to be in one of the "unhappy" customers especially when u r on the honeymoon now.. do u?? :P

will rather prefer a trusted name which costs a bit more than saving money and experiencing nightmare for the rest of ur life.. Honeymoon is special :P

EDIT: not just honeymoon.. but even the random holidays are special.. :P

Been doing my own research since yesterday.. Have to finalize in 1-2 days.

Also in touch with Makemytrip ppl .. Going to contact Kesari Today..!

@Dipen

I was in your exact position last year at around same time. I too went for my HM in January 2011 for around 8-9 days. I too was in same dilemma whether to go with tours or plan myself. I went to make mytrip, kesari and couple of private small operators also.

Believe me buddy, planning yourself is something i would recommend. But only if you are ready to plan and invest time.

I did a lot of research and used those travel agents like kesari etc to my advantage. Also i would say you are bit late for making the arrangements now. I had done all my booking before November IIRC.

Go to these Kesari and all and get their brouchers etc and use that as a research basis. Also forums like tripadvisor are a saviour. They have plethora of information. I find it as ultimate source of information.

Last year i planned my HM to Phuket and Bangkok for 9 days and i was also done within 1.25 Lakh, all with shopping, airfare, hotel stay, local spendings and it was a peak time, mind you. So hotel stay in my case was like 4-5 K per day.

I recently used trip advisor to plan my Las Vegas trip. The information one gets from this website and its forums is so much more than adequate that you will be overwhelmed and how helpful the forums here are.

As far as places are concerned, I had zeroed down to places like Mauritius, Maldives, Singapore (concrete jungle, do not recommend), Thailand, HK Macau.

@raks :- Thanks for comprehensive Post. I am ruling out international due to the time as well as budget constraints. So my only focus is either Kashmir / Andaman. So I am digging info on these 2 destinations through indiamike.com.

Will also checkout Tripadvisor.
