Great news.

Too bad though that most of the comments in that article are against not just Reliance, but against India as well...

Goddamn it. These idiots at Reliance will turn Codemasters franchise into another shithole. Why god Why!!!!

LOL whatever makes you guys think that the future releases would be bad? Have they ever done that before? Acquisition of a company's stakes doesn't imply that the releases would necessarily be bad. Useless predictions.

buddy. Reliance is one company that can seriously screw up any acquisition. If they take over the retail and support channels in India for codemasters, everyone will be doomed thanks to their pathetic support and retail structures.

I support his views. And think about the bright side guys.Who knows...we may get codemasters games for lesser prices.

Alright!!

CM probably makes 0.0000005% of their total revenues from the Indian market. and reliance will screw that up as well.. Fracking Reliance :@:@

After seeing how pathetic reliance used to be in dealing with it's userbase, am being more of a realistic than pessimist. If they start taking control on game development, it would be bye bye Codemasters.

I dont get whats with all the pessimism and negativity!!?? :S
How exactly is this bad? People commenting on that article have no idea what they are talking about. Reliance has partnerships with Spielberg, George Clooney etc.. Have they suddenly started making India-centered movies?

People there are commenting silly things like CM would be forced to concentrate on Cricket because Indians are crazy about Cricket. That is just dumb. Does anyone seriously think Reliance bought the stake thinking about the almost non-existent gaming market in India? They are after CM's global reach. If they force CM to concentrate on making India-centric Cricket games, they might as well say good bye to the global markets. This is akin to flushing money down the drain and I dont think people at Reliance are THAT stupid.

Sure, developing a market for gaming in India is probably on their radar, but I dont think they would want to screw up the existing CM franchises. I feel with this deal, the creative control would still rest mostly with CM (atleast for the time being). As for India, I guess this would mean better availability of CM games here.

Good news; I dont know why people are so negative about it.Reliance already has Zapak and now they got acquired - don't you see it people. With the muscle of Reliance Cody can increase their budget for a true cricket game with licensed Indian and may be other teams like Pak,Lanka etc. Also they may got the IPL cricket game license. Cody has the knowledge of Cricket ( Brian Lara Cricket 1999 was the best cricket game for me so far) and reliance has the money ~ no brainer. In short there is a huge potentiality if Reliance do it well.

i suppose they recognize the potential of IPL...i dont see any other reason why they would do this.. probably to have a cricket game officially signed by all IPL Teams..

Well I believe now we can see some more Indian scenario based games other than cricket. There could be some FPS based in conditions Or some beat'em up games. Bst will be some GTA kind of game based upon Indian traffic conditions, it will be a perfect suit.:ohyeah:
On a serious note I don't think that Reliance will like to fiddle with creative department of Codemasters as they know the original Codemasters team will be better suited for the profilabity of the business.

Operation Flashpoint: The Kargil War
DiRT 3: Streets of Mumbai

Ha ha, those two scenarios, if done well, could actually end up being good! A GTA based in Mumbai would be just epic. :)
