PC Peripherals Removing IDE Cable Slave connector

I want to remove ide cable slave connector.

How to do it properly and also after connecting it to DVD writer will it cause any problem or it will work just fine?

break the tabs on the edges, and the pieces will eventually come off. take care not to damage the cable, and all will be fine.

when an IDE connector is attached it punctures the plastic and removing it will leave the wires bare, so be careful that the bare wires do not create a short circuit !!

When I need to have an IDE cable with only one connector I cut the cable just after the first connector, but you can do this only if the shortening of the cable length will work for you. The way I cut off an IDE cables second connector is to slide a Swiss Army Knife's blade alongside the first connector, this makes for a clean cut with no wire strands sticking out.
