Renault boss Flavio Briatore wants seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher to drive for his team next year, according to reports.
Schumacher's Ferrari deal expires at the end of this season, when world champion Fernando Alonso quits Renault.

Schumacher's agent Willi Webber was quoted as saying in German newspaper Bild:
"Flavio has been in touch to say that we should talk with him.

"We have known Flavio for a long time but we will speak with Ferrari first."
Schumacher, who is fourth in the drivers championship, could be tempted to reunite with Briatore.

The pair worked together at Benetton where the German won his first titles in 1994 and 1995.

The Italian boss is looking for a suitable replacement for Alonso, who unexpectedly announced he was joining McLaren in 2007.

Alonso will join McLaren in 2007

But Schumacher, 37, must first make up his mind whether he wants to extend his 15-year career.

"I made it clear to Flavio that we would not talk to him until Michael decides whether he wants to carry on driving or not,"
Webber said.

Schumacher has already said if he carries on racing it is "99%" he will stay with Ferrari.

He Can't,He Simply Can't Join Renault,Can He?Will He Stay Loyal To Ferrari. He Should,After All,He's Won Five Championships There.
But He's A Professional,In This Sport,Loyalties Switch,Like The Way He Unexpected Joined Ferrari Even After His Twin Successes With Benetton(Now Renault).

But Ferrari Is More Than A Team. It's Been His Family For Years.
I Guess It'll All Depend On How This Season Goes.If Ferrari Is No Longer Competitive,He Just Might Make The Switch,Always Assuming He's Willing To Extend His Career.

I dont think he will join Renault..... that seems impossible....

And it should not be also.....

Oh and another thing..... somehow I doubt if Renault will be ready to pay him his HUUUUGE MEGA salary.

Most French teams are quitting motorsport(WRC -- Peugeot and Citroen) and there have been rumours that Renault is also quitting. And that is why they let Alonso go to McLaren.

I mean the manager of Alonso is none other than Flavio :D So it is not like he made a deal with McLaren without the knowledge of Renault. But they still let him go.....

At this point in his career, michael is more likely to join a team that will let him win the WDC rather than the one that pays him more money. Renault being the team in form makes for a perfect switch. It will be great for F1 if MS decides to join Renault and then retire with em after say completing 2007 and 2008 seasons. Alonso is joining McLaren next year and Kimi is almost certain to join Ferrari.

I dont think he will join renault. thats just too unschumi like..

And he may or may not extend his career thats all upto him

Renault is short of a premier driver.. I wont be too taken aback if Kimi or Shumi is in Renault next year.. However, Renault was never known to pay as much.. So we can still only speculate, I guess.

poor schumi didn't have a good season last year and this year too he isn't looking as fast as alonso and raikonnen. he might be looking for newer challenges and at renault he might get that opportunity to prove himself. i don't think money will be a problem he has loads of it already. it will be more for pride rather than money. he might just want to have another go at the driver's championship and then retire. and remember, talks of valentino rossi (moto gp champ) joining ferrari next year. and i don't know why renault would want to quit motorsport especially F1 since this car is the best they have to offer and is the fastest off the blocks, and can beat ferrari and mc laren in straight line speeds.
