Year 2006 will be nonmemorable for Ferrari as for the first time since 2000, a Formula One car other than a Ferrari bears the coveted number one and with drivers like Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella in drivers seat of the new Renault R26 they surely gona be tough to beat.

Although the Renault R26 has regularly been on the test track in the past few weeks, the official unveiling of the team's 2006 challenger took place during the Renault F1 Launch at the Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo,Monaco on January 31st.

With the usual livery, the R26 looks similar to last year's Championship-winning R25, except for the opening of the sidepods and more aggressive aerodynamics.

Everybody in the Renault Camp are confident that the new R26 will be able to successfully defend both championships(Drivers and Constructors championship) in 2006.

The new car also has a 7-speed gearbox, to best exploit the power and torque characteristics of the new V8 engine.

The R26 ran for the first time in Jerez, Spain on 10 January, and has since completed over 2700 km by both race drivers-Giancarlo Fisichella (left) and world champion Fernando Alonso.

Specifications of the NEW ENGINE are as follows:

Alonso is fine but I've my doubts abt Fisichella. While we look at it the other way..with Alsonso already confirmed to drive for McLaren next season, Fisi might get the priority at Renault this year. Renault will be a loser if they think Fisi is a better driver than Alonso.

As for winning the championship, Renault and Ferrari both have winners in this year's cars. Honda is looking good too. McLaren have apparent problems and I hope all will be sorted before the season start. F1 is never fun without competition and when McLaren is struggling, it becomes boring :P

Alonso being transferred to Mclaren tat would create hell lot of a Competition for Ferrari but there r still doubts whether Renault would continue in F1

Sorry for sounding like a Ferrari fanboy.... but FERRARI WILL WIN THIS YEAR !!! :P

Seriously. Now that tyre changes have been allowed again, the tyre advantage Michelin had last year is not there anymore.

But of course, the big thing is the engines. The first year 2.4 V8s are being used. You can NEVER say anything abt the reliability of these engines. Only time will tell....

I am really looking forward to the season :D

Well, let us see :P. If not Ferrari, I am supporting McLaren. but that wont happen. McLaren have had major reliability issues.

Mclaren wont kick ass :bleh: Theyve always had problems with their V8's.

Ferrari is gonna be back with a bang this year. Im sure Schumi will win this year :bleh:

Schmi could be having a new partner in Valentino Rossi (Six time MotoGP worldchampion) Since Rossi has tested for Ferrari and tat development would be an interesting one to watch out for.

2 wheeler to 4 wheeler phewwwwwwwwww............

That will happen earliest in 2007. In 2006, Felipe Massa is the confirmed partner for Schumi.

but then his contract expires at the end of this year and there are rumours that Kimi could be a replacement for Schumi at Ferrari next year.

So, next year, if my dream comes true, it will be Rossi and Kimi in Ferrari :D That would be soooooo AWesome!!!

Goldenfrag ur wish is gona be fullfilled in 2007.

In 2006, its gona be ALONSO V/S Everybody Else

Winner : FERNANDO ALONSO
