Arrrggh! The last level is really doing a number on us. I have reached level 31 and unlocked most of the required upgrades, along with max cool-down and increased radius of my air-strike. However, the amount of enemies spawning towards the end is insane. You'll practically have wave after wave of tanks and smaller buggies, until you finally get the boss battle, which is another challenge. Our first attempt this morning, ended badly, with my brother hitting 'Game over' right in the first wave of attack. I stayed until the final boss battle, only to be over-powered later on. Will attempt it again tonight and seal the deal.

WOO-HOO! Completed the game a few minutes back and man the last level was definitely a pain in the arse. It took us 3-4 tries to get it right. Make no mistake about it, you need to have 5 lives (in SP) as soon as you enter enemy wave battle, prior to Inferno's battle. Also you need to have mini-gun equipped to inflict damage upon the final boss. I'm really curious to see how people complete this level in single player mode, when the 2-player itself turned out to be quite a challenge. :P

But we enjoyed this game and great to see arcade games reviving the old school challenge. No health re-gen, limited lives, health pick-ups, no check-point saves etc. Good job Avalanche! :)

Completed the game a moment back in 2 sittings (8 chapters!) on Normal difficulty. Dragged my roomie's arse into playing co-op, who was tinkering around with his Android phone until then. Short but a fantastic game! The fun factor was great. I've never seen such visuals for a top-down based shooter. The dynamic split-screen option was pretty cool.

We did it with the first try and a near perfect one! :P

I had 4 lives before the elevator ride. :P

Ours was as good as a single player battle since my roomie (who btw was leveled up to 18) lost all the 5 lives and was dead long before the elevator ride. As for me, Gunnar was leveled up to 37 and with the flame thrower as the secondary, facing the waves of enemies was easy. What was hard however was Inferno's battle. Was running around in circles with the choppers spawning from all directions. Nonetheless, Inferno was beaten in the first try.

In fact we never had to redo another chapter from scratch. :D

Good choice. I'd have to vote her to be the best of the lot. I got her up to level 36 and most of the XP grinding happened in the last level. I hope there's an SP DLC for it.

Her special ability to call the air strikes was pretty good but unfortunately we need to be at the center of the heated battle to bring in a really good one. My roomie found it a bit hard to get close to a tank but nonetheless proved to be a good companion.

Turns out the unlockable abilities are shuffled for each character. For instance, the one which was at the top-most part of the tree for Gunnar was at the bottom for Roxy.

Loved the kahaani mein twist. :D

You don't need to be in the center, once you have unlocked all her offensive abilities. Just equip to the highest special attack ability which enables a larger blast radius and does more damage. :D

Is that so? Didn't notice that. Which skill tree was that? Did you bother upgrading the middle one? That was the only line which I didn't touch at all. :P

Indeed!

After Inferno's battle, when the cut-scene showed up and I was like "what the..?" Not another boss battle with Natasha now and then KA-POW! Bryant delivers the final blow. :D

Oh! The two of us only unlocked those relating to the lives and health. Did not bother with the rest. :P

Yeah. At least this was the case with Roxy and Gunnar's unlockable ability tree. The one that requires those points to unlock and equip into the 4 slots. Abilities were simply shuffled. :P

Exactly my thoughts when the cutscene came up! I was so bloody elated, grabbed my smoke and lighted it. Then they showed that and I was like WTF! :O My roomie started giving me a grin since I did not have any spare lives by the end of the battle. Luckily the guy turned up! :D

Wait it's just the two of us who seem to be interested in the game? Folks this is a damn good title worth your time. Attempt it!

Same here. In my case, my brother had 3 lives left and I was on the verge of dying. So he would have to do it solo, had there been another battle. :P

Exactly! Until you started posting, I could only hear my echo in this thread. It's a shame this game went through a lot of release delays on the PC, but the end result was worth it. Are there no NES-era fans to appreciate this title?

and...I'm back!

This game won't go down that easy. We have 2 new DLC's released for this game; Coldstrike campaign ($4.99) & Reinforcements pack ($2.99).

Details are as follows:

Coldstrike campaign

The Coldstrike campaign sees the Renegades go up against a new villain codenamed Coldstrike.

General Bryant and his team must traverse vast arctic environments to help save innocent civilians and stop this latest threat by any means necessary!

* Take on all new enemies including Cryotech vehicles and monstrous Golems!

* Travel across three new fully destructible artic themed maps!

* Discover the identity of Coldstrike and stop it from wreaking havoc.

Reinforcements Pack DLC

General Bryant has found two new recruits to help in the fight against Inferno; Blazemo and Crystal.

Drive Blazemo's buggy with flaming pipes and use his special ability, Incinerator, to turn into a huge fireball that engulfs everything in its path and cause ultimate destruction!

Alternatively you can drive as Crystal and use her Force Field special ability to repel enemy fire and create a safe haven for you and your allies to shoot from.

Good thing I didn't delete my save file. Getting them right now. :D

Loaded the Coldstrike Campaign DLC, completed the first chapter and midway through the second, the game froze and upon a system restart, the game throws a black screen! The error reads, 'AVA_Main has stopped working'.

Tried several workarounds available on the WWW but couldn't get the game to work. There seems to be a dedicated thread on Steam forums but none has got a solution yet. A patch from Avalanche would be highly appreciated.
