Renewing passport in USA

Hi Guys,

I am going to Holtsville, NY next week. My H1B petition is valid till Sept 2016 and my passport will expire in June 2014.
I am planning to renew my passport in USA. So please guide me with the process if I am renewing it in USA. What all documents/xerox I need to carry, so that I can prepare it beforehand.

Please share your experiences.

Just have a valid visa, and a letter from your employer stating that you are a part of the company and officially drawing a salary. At the most you might also need a copy of your rent agreement and a second valid photo ID. That's it. Approach your nearest Indian Consulate and they will do the needful. Might have to fill up a couple of forms.

i did renewed my passport from overseas i.e from nz. they are having website which have all the info. I guess it will be similar in usa. I got my passport in 30 days. For me i just submitted my passport , copy of the form which i had filled and also the passport photo in the prescribed format along with the cash to be paid. I hope this helps.
