Required:Suggestions on a Digi-Cam

Plan to get myself a Digicam

Budget: 10K-12K(max including the mem card)..not a penny more than 12K
Plannin to buy either from ALFA(Mum) or Dubai..Please suggest which would be the best place to buy considering the budget/warranty etc.

i am beginner aand apparently know absolutely nothin about Digi-cams
but then this would be a long term thingy..wont be buying any digi cam for another 4-5 years atleast..thats why i have kept myself a decent 2K incase i get a better cam.

Purpose:would prefer (very) good picture quality with Image Stabilization..
Good bit of video recording..
i really dont know what are ISO's(i assume it to be the grains in the pics out of my toota foota knowledge ) ..
I guess there are too many criterias to be kept in mind..Any suggestions guys?

check out the canon sx100
8 mp with 10 x optical zoom
and what i like more abt it is it uses AA batteries (now u may hate this for it also...)
the screen aint that great and nor it aint a super slim one either...but the performance sud be pretty decent...

cost abt 220 dollars at amazon with a 2 gb card chipped in... u will need to get a gud battery AA (NiMH) charger which sud cost u abt 1200 bucks in india (4 cell and charger)
 
alright.. i am alredy considering this one..

1. Its Canon.

2. Fits my budget.

3. many people recommend this.. but the only shortcoming is something related to ISO's.. that is the only reason why i am looking for other options if available.

and does this one have Image stabilization?
 
gets a hands on -everything- .........head to the photofair in goregaon , bombay exhibition center.......choose ur pick and u can get good discounted price too.....almost 'all' the brands are there......if u want me to check for a specific model and its pricing....lemme know since im headed there.....

SX100 IS has image stabilization.
Canon A650 IS is also likely to be within your budget and it has 12.1MP and larger 1/1.7" CCD compared to 1/1.25" in case of SX100 IS which will give better pictures. But the zoom is 6X compared to 10X but it is sufficient unless you are into wildlife/sports photography.
