I got the Dell S2409W , am using ATI HD4850 With that.

Connected the LCD and GPU using HDMI cable.

Now when I am at a resolution of 1280X768 the display is full screen.

But when I go above that or at the maximum possible ie 1920X1080 there are black bars from all the sides of the monitor.

The auto adjust feature on the monitor is disabled so I cant stretch the window to full screen.

What is it that I am doing wrong ?

With the VGA connector , there are no problems , its amazing !!

But what about the HDMI connector ?

How do i get a full screen with HDMI ?

Auto adjust is disabled on HDMI and DVI.

Any suggestions ???

This is definitely a driver issue. ATI is famous for messed up resolutions. Try updating ur drivers.

I've seen this issue before even sometimes on Nvidia cards. Try rolling back to 9.8 and see. BTW, why arent you using DVI, at least try DVI to check and see if its the same issue. If its not then could be some glitch with the HDMI port.

if it's happening with only hdmi den check your drivers and if still problem is their then contact dell for support....

go to catalyst control panel - > desktop and displays -> right click lcd and configure - > Scaling options - > set overscan there .

For 1280 X 768 you are getting full screen perfectly. That means for a 16:10 resolution your monitor is working perfectly. Strange, as Dell 2409W is 16:9 screen.

guys already told him solution , ATI driver downscaling is enabled , just do as i posted and it works , happened with my G2412HD also .

Thanks Roboghost !!!!

Works like a charm.

Did not have CCC so had to download then had to get the .NEt framework so took some time to try out but its ON britches !!
