Guys something weird happened yesterday. The sequence of events is like this....

1. I recharge through PayTM for my airtel DTH connection for 450 by paying 382 rupees and confirm after few minutes that the recharge has been done successfully indeed.

2. I made the payment using my credit card and hence i got the ICICI Bank SMS immediately and also from PayTM which is expected.

3. Now later in the evening i get a call from a guy in Delhi and first thing he asks me is "Aapke paas meri credit card number kahan se aaya...aapne mere credit card pe transaction kiya hai airtel ka recharge paytm pe"

4. I was awestruck by this and told him to give me more details about what he is talking. He kept on sort of investigating me as how i got his CC details.

5. I explained him that i have done recharge but using my CC and i have all proof like SMS from bank, paytm, PDF receipt in PAYTM, bank credit card statement.

6. He told me that he got email about the transaction and probably PDF too with the airtel digital TV number, mobile number etc

That guy has not called me again yet. I had told him to SMS me his email id so i can communicate through email with proofs (if required).

Now this is a super cause of concern with my CC details being safe at paytm.

Yesterday i had tried the forgot password option on paytm but i never received the email. I suspect it is gone to someone else (that guy). I never got the transaction receipt PDF in email too (not sure if we are supposed to get) and when registering on paytm, did not get any welcome email too :S

I have emailed the paytm about this.

ISSUE REOLVED. CHECK THIS POST

Eeeek.

This is extremely serious. You should update the CC(to make sure urs is not send to anyone) and paytm folks should do the needful. :S

wonder what sort of system they have. :S.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

PayTM redirected information incorrectly. For safety change your CC passwords. Why did you not recharge your DTH directly from the Airtel DTH portal...?

The 15% discount on recharges. :ashamed:

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

I would say call up ICICI Cust care and let them know such a thing has happened, make sure that your CC has only been charged. And change all your passwords ASAP.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

^^i did check with ICICI Bank website and looked at my account statement, it has been charged as expected. The PDF file that paytm gives also mentions the CC number but not fully, only first 6 number :S

No XXXX or anything also is there.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

Then how the Delhi guy got your cell number..?

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

^^He probably received the email PDF with details of the transaction. No full CC details were there in the receipt but my airtel digital TV customer number, my phone number (which is login id at paytm) were there.

Can anyone confirm if they received the EMAIL PDF after you made the transaction ?

Because i never received any.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

I suggest one thing, never use their save this card for future transactions.

always always use netsecure cards which are genrated as per your wish so your actual card no. remains safe.

this site keeps saying your trust is most important to us.

I have this thing in my head.whoever earns it by own by not telling you.is the guy who lacks it seriously.

I also used my cc yesterday on this site.I suggest you all use virtual cards.what i do is make 3000 or rs card in virtual cc and from this cc i pay off all this paltry sums.

I didnt receive any Email PDF . I recharged airtel digital tv too by CC.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

No need to worry, he received recharge confirmation mail by an error in system, which contain information like....

Your transaction details are:

Order Number : 257xxx4

Registered User : xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Mobile Operator : BSNL

Mobile Number : xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Recharge Amount : xxxxxxxxxxxx

Payment Mode : Credit Card (ICICI Bank )

Transaction Date: 14-Jul-2011 10:40:37 AM IST

Note: This Transaction will appear in your bank statement as 'TechPayTM' or 'Times of Money' or 'Bill Junction'. The bank transaction id is xxxxxxxx.

He did not have your credit card information. No misuse possible IMO. Further report this matter to PayTM.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

This is scary .I would request folks to stop using the site untill they fix the issues .For 15% discount you are risking your bank account details / CC details.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

They probably have bad programming on whom the email should be sent which caused this. The delhi guy was never charged IMO. It seems that he got paranoid in just seeing the receipt and probably later found that no actual transaction is made and hence never cared to call. In case he calls again i will let you all know.

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

Throw PayTM out the window. And never use it. I would rather pay the 'normal' amount, then have my personal details sent to someone else. Do not blame the guy getting a Delhi Belly and calling you. He must be paranoid too. :)

Best would be to call your bank and get this CC disqualified. And have it re-provisioned on another number. Of course that would change the log in pins too. Sleep safe at night. Use the Airtel DTH site to pay.

Someone should start a thread, and we should sticky it. Have a blacklist of such portals. And the thread pointing to it.

I received a mail with the transaction details from PayTM but not a pdf...

It was something like this..

Your transaction details are:

Order Number : 2616xxx

Registered User : 998xxxxxxx

DTH Operator : Airtel Digital TV

Customer id : 300xxxxxx

Recharge Amount : 450.0

Payment Mode : DTH-Credit Card (CITIBANK | xxxxxx)

Transaction Date: 13-Jul-2011 09:49:23 PM IST

I've intentionally changed a few digits to xxxx...

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

Is your email id gmail registered at payatm

are their any dots {.} in it

Most probably the email supposed for you had gone to him

thats how all details must have gone to him , including your phone number

i have same case

some guy had registered in freerecharge.in using gmail email id with a dot {.}

the correct id is owned by me and he doesnt know that for gmail dot {.} is null and void

his freerecharge transaction keep coming to me

his mobile recharge , BIG tv and airtel tv recharges come to me

he even registered at playboy.com and i get the free newsletter

you can check that

or the worst case scenario

payatm sent your mail to him my mistake

re: [Resolved User Error] Serious security issue at Paytm...personal experince

i agree with you asingh.

thy call their site most secure and stupids are not even on https and I did not find them using anykind of encryption ,only bank sites are secure as https and all.

I will stop using their services.

I found great alternative.Axis bank has mobile application and you can use it for all mobile recharges.everything happening on phone application itself and secure.no need to log in to netbanking. no need to have to enter your card or logins anywhere.just one security code and its done.
