DELHI NCR

Be warned that Al Bake's quality is very variable from day to day and the quality has actually dropped over the years.

Urban Cafe, Khan Market - Don't go there. Ambience is fine, but everything else is useless especially the price considering the quality.
Boombox, Khan Market - Nice ambience and food. Service, not so much. Price is average.
Aka Saka, Defence Colony - Good Chinese food and service is on the better side, ambience and price are average.

Delhi:

Nizam's, Connaught Place - The best Kathi Rolls I have had in Delhi. Much better than Khan Chacha and Saleem's IMO. Reasonable rates.

Tunday Kababi, Daryaganj - Excellent Tunde Kabab(the beef ones). Very cheap.

The Kitchen, Khan Market - A variety of Cuisine. they are famous for Khao Suey(Burmese). I have had the BBQ and the lamb burgers. both were excellent. Moderately Expensive.

SideWok , CP - Good Oriental Food. Reasonable Rates

Gulati's, Pandara Road - Very nice North Indian Food. Reasonable Rates.

Pune:

Vadeshwar - FC Road - I love the rasam vadas and sambar vadas

Indore:

Nafees - New Palasia - Non veggies will enjoy the biriyanis

Sayaji - Vijay Nagar - the buffet lunch on weekends at The Square is good; Dinner at Kebabsville is also great

Shreemaya - RNT Marg / Vijay Nagar - vegetarians will like it here

Crown Palace - South Tukoganj - Rooftop barbecue is great

The night stalls at Sarafa - Roadside vendors dishing out everything from idlis and dosas to jalebis and biriyanis.. Awesome place for the food junkie

The shops at Chappan - The best place for chaat

Any small hotel or sweet shop - for Indori Pohe and Jalebis - the staple food of Indoris.. :P

Chennai

GRT Grand (T nagar) -> We had dinner at "Anytime". The number of items was not big for the buffet, but the quality was really good.

Bay Leaf (Cathedral Road, within 3 km from EA) -> The BEST bengali restaurant in Chennai. I am very particular about mutton dishes but they nailed it. Its a bit expensive (in line with the good restaurants in Chennai) but its really worth it.

The Dhaba (Chromepet) -> Pathetic. Expensive and the food was not even worth half the price.

Bangalore

Chulha Chauki Dhaba (Hennur Main Road) -> Good budget restaurant for going out in weekends with friends.

Mysore

Pai Vista -> I think all the Mysore Folks already know the "Jungle" and "Cave" restaurants. Personally, I always prefer The Jungle.

Metropole -> Really good ambience and food.

Mughal Darbar -> Pathetic. After getting many recommendations, I was really disappointed by the food. Possibly the worst restaurant I have ever visited.

Kerala:

Thrissur

Pathans Hotel ~ Nice, the chutney was awesome. Takes some time too for the orders, but the coffee is quick. Also, gets filled quite fast.

Bharat Hotel ~ Awesome food, but some of the stuff varies day by day. One evening the fried rice was hot steaming, the next day, cold and tastless. Takes a hell lot of time for the munchies to come, and even for time to get a place if more than 2 people.

Krishna's Veg [Near 10.523109,76.211085] ~ Newly opened. My friend had food there and he gave 5 stars, but I found the food [pongal] to be cold. But the dosa was quite big for the cost ~ 30 bucks. Would recommend to go there early morning only. Lunch is cheap ~ 50 bucks, but have not had it.

Palakkad:

Anand Food Bhavan ~ Dunno exact location, but awesome food. Prices reasonable too. Piping hot also. Must have Sevai if special of the day ~ good quantity.

Delhi:

The American Diner (South Ex) - I loved their chicken lasagnia (tried lasagnia at several other places, didnt like)

Noida:

Desi Vibes - very good ambience, very good & tasty food. Costly.

OP please update the front page so that it is easy for people to refer to the list otherwise he will have to scan throung several pages.

Bangalore :

1.Punjabi Rasoi - Lasooni TIkka,Panner Tikka. Just try any tikka and it is good.Try Chicken Chat

2.Khansama - UB City - Buffet

Trivandrum; I am really let down by most of the the hotels I've tried here... the biriyani especially sucks.
These are the some of the ones;
Buhari - good meals for lunch, the mutton chops is fairly good. Probably the only restaurant in this city that I've liked till now.
Azad - this is a fairly popular chain of restaurants and all branches serve equally bad shit.
Zamzam - typical arab style cusine. Decent for what it offers though kinda pricey.
Ambrosia - i was thinking that this would be cheaper or better in some way that the big chain restaurants but turns out its neither. Dunno about the cakes which tbh didn't look all that great but the burgers and pizzas aren't all that good.
Aishwarya - another chain[or is that name just real common] - above average veg south indian food. pricey but worth it.
Annapurna - same as Aishwarya but food is just average.
Indian Coffee House - not as good compared to the ones in Malabar region with their awesome cutlet and beetroot sauce combo but still maintains their standard for decent and fairly priced food.

I do like that style of dry fry chicken with chilly that they make here in lots of hotels but overall I am dissapoint.

Mostly I try Mutton/Chicken Biryanis(Biriyani).
Cochin:
Grand Hotel,MG Rd - Good Biryani
Tandoor Woodlands Jn - good
Chillies, above Tandoor Woodlands Jn - Biryani,Mutton Pepper fry,Andhra food(not really!yet good)
Just Biriyani Pulleppady - good
Real Arabia, palarivattom - Al Fahm,Shwarmas and Grilled Chicken..tasted only Shawarmas there.

Some random suggestions I tried/heard :
Oberon Food circle,Edappally
Zaika,Palarivattom
Chak De Restaurant, Opp. Oberon Mall
Rappayyis Thattukada,Palarivattom
Ceylon bake House branch near woodlands jn on to chittoor road
Pai Dosa,near Padma
Yuvarani residency, south - lil expensive.. +ve - their buffet offers.

and...

Chicken Chicago - lacks taste we prefer in FC
Kayees, near maharaja super market - My experience was not good
Naushad Big Chef Kadavanthra - Bwah.. only name! crowded and Biryani was below average.
BIMBIS,south - back in 80s and 90s it got good patronage - now it is ordinary..
rehmaniya kethel chicken - not really tasty..
I heard there are speciality restaurants in Fort Kochi but No idea since I hardly visit that place!
however, heard about Kayikka's Biryani,Mattanchery.

EDIT:
Vegetarian food Restaurants:
Dwaraka near Jos Junction - good
Gokul, Jos Jn and kathrukadavu branches - Very good.
Woodlands Rangoli Restaurant - Average
Aryas near manorama - average
Udupi Anantha Bhavan - if You love Holige.
Anugraha Udupi Hotel, Vyttila - sometimes yucky taste!

KOLKATA -

The Golden Joy in Chinatown
Kimli at Golpark

If you want to eat healthy sandwiches, forget SubWay. Go to Esplanade and then to Lindsay Street(the one where there is a Sreeleather's store). Walk till you reach the end of that road and turn right. You will find two shops selling sandwiches at the corner, infront of the Food Corporation of India building.
Eat at the one which says N.V.Stores or something like that.
Lip Smacking sandwich at really really low prices.
My recommendation - try Veg Mayonnaise or Chicken Mayonnaise sandwich, the loaf one, not grilled.
