Not only on paper...The performance is pretty darn good for its price

Where irs this available for 2k.

On ebay its price was 2500+300(shipping).

Also tell me if there are any better speakers under 2.5k

http://www.flipkart....tmdfzesh2r3hxgf

its 2066, but I couldnt find anything better for <2.5k (was looking for a friend)

I found the best deal here

,

I would prefer A333U because paying some more bucks fetches the USB , memory card reader , with navigation buttons

Cons :

# 3 inch satellite speakers driver instead of 4 inch that we find in A520

# another is even though the A333U has got the same 6.5inch woofer , the performance would be slightly lesser than A520

Final conclusion , if u want the USB and SD card support , u will lose small amount of sound quality , not tooo much , little .

After using the coupon code 'paytm'

A520 will cost Grand Total :Rs. 1558

hey everyone i just bought the speakers and want to know how to place the woofer

should i put the woofer down on the ground or on the table please help i am really not aware of all these stuff

You need to place it on the floor in the corner of the room [ not near the door ] keep distance of 1.5 feet from the wall for the air circulation .

bit the bullet and bought one for my parents. Sound seems decent enough. Took it apart, specs seem to be correct - saw 2xTDA2030 amps and a third I couldnt Identify. The wood used is rather puny, and the drivers are also small (but can't complain, given the price)
Highs are not that great, and bass while deep - if you turn it up, it becomes boomy - there is no damping inside the box. There is some scope for modding :D (I'm thinking damping + swapping the 4" drivers in the sats for some good car speakers). This speaker is by far the best you can get within 5K

Stay tuned :P

^^^ Please put some pic of your tear down here......love to see what was inside of this great piece...

That could also be a hybrid output device, with two dies in one package. I can't see an output coil so probably not a Class D amp either, even though the whole amp runs off a SMPS. It looks like a CLC supply, which is quite remarkable given the cost of these speakers.

If you choose the upgrade the capacitors (I would) then do not try higher capacitance. It may kill the SMPS. The white line on the PCB is the holy line, do take care as the high voltages tend to stay back in the primary side capacitor. It may cause serious injury, so watch it.

Drivers look OK. Car speakers are very inefficient and the 16watts from the TDA2030 wont go a long way. A good substitute will be the 4" fullrange drivers from Peerless, but you'll have some rolloff. You can plump for some cheaper Tang Bang or entry-level Fostex/Fountek speaker drivers and get stalker to carry them when he comes home for the holidays.

You sure ? I was wondering why the transformer looked so puny. Was actually planning to dismantle it once more and check the voltages with a multimeter. If its an SMPS, then not touching it :P

Nah, not *that* serious about modding it. Currently being used by my parents with an LCD monitor to watch TV. for them, this should be fine, and only interested in the low hanging easy mods :D

Yup, there is a primary side capacitor, and a switching device there as well. I can see the input inductor so am almost 100% sure it's a SMPS.

should have known there is a catch, and mine seems to have gone kaput, and the website does not show any service centers!
have sent a mail to their customer service email id. lets see

Apologies in advance.

I did manage to listen to the F&D A521 the other day. We ran it off Poweramp running FLAC files on my phone, which is a shade better than an onboard audio card - so, a faithful reproduction of what a suitable source might be.

More than me, these speakers have a lot to be sorry for. There is basically no midrange at all, and trying to get it back by pushing up the bass control results in a maddening boominess. There are some huge holes in the frequency response, and I and my friend (who is *not* an audiophile) were pretty angry at having wasted our time. I would never recommend these to anybody, no matter how desperate they are.

I've probably not said this before, but even the 1.5k crappy Creative have a more balanced sound if you get the settings tweaked a bit.

I pray the 520 sounds nothing like the 521 (they didn't have those in stock).

I was looking at the reviews on this thread...

Though I get the point about Flipkart user reviews. It's exactly like Amazon or the 'egg.

@cranky small doubt about the PSU. It's dead and the Voltage keeps seesawing right now, with a faint and dull repetitive thud coming from the sattelites. Do you suppose it can be fixed ( I mean I'm afraid the parts might be unobtainable)
