guys,
wats the best software for ripping a Dual layer DVD onto a single DVD without any substantial loss in quality..
i have tried going thru a lot of guides but there doesnt seem to be one set way of doing it and some of the softwares that i've tried dont seem to be working very well..

could u guys please help me out here...i need to backup a lot of my stuff..

To DivX - Gordian Knot - Simply superb but you'll have to go thro' lot of steps to achieve that perfect quality.

As for bringing it down to a SL DVD, u can try DVDShrink.

u cud try 1click dvd copy,it worked for me.I copied dual layer to a single dvd without any substantial loss of quality.

I use Nero Recode. It works perfectly for me.

Agreed. But I feel that Gordian Knot, when used with the correct settings is way better than Nero Recode.

Faster conversion does not depend on the software but is dependent on the hardware. Normally on a decent system, a conversion of DVD5 to divx will take around 3-5 hrs.

The best results will always be on using different programs to convert the DVD to divx.

andy,i generally make a DVD5 to DivX5 conversion with 2 pass on Dr .DivX in approx 2 hrs!...Dunno being fast or not,i am being here simple & comfortable!

If only I can convert a dvd9 movie to divx/xvid under 2 hrs, that would be great.:).

@blueyesdude, wish I had a dual-core proccy too.:(
