For movies and Gaming, a X-FI Titanium HD would be enough.
for real experience and music Go for ASUS XONAR STX available with buygamingstuff for 8.1k
or try lynx for XONAR ST.

Check Review Section for VikiD's review of Kave for its performace with SoundCards.

Just stick with ur audigy.. You need not upgrade your soundcard for the kaves. Trust me i have tried it even with onboard sound and the difference aint too significant to spend 4-8k depending on which card you pick up.

I have tried it on my xi-fi, onboard and my new essence st...

My opinion is strictly based on kaves and not speakers or any other headsets.....

@edge111hussain

Have you tried the kave with an amp for music, while in stereo output ?

I doubt, if the E5 of the OP will go waste with the kave.

The kave on its own is more than capable, i dont see why it needs to be amped at all.. Not every headset needs to be amped and the kave certainly doesnt

Kave has an inbuilt amplifier that is powered by USB. So along with the 3 x 3.5mm jacks, you have to plug in the USB connector so it can draw power. You don't need a separate amplifier.

you really dont need a sound card to go with the Kave...unlike other headphones....kave dont need an external soundcard to produce the awesome sound it produces :)

Just buy the kave...and spend the extra cash on something like Roccat Apuri :)

^ I really doubt that. It should work fairly better with a good sound card compared to onboard. I just tried Vivacious' Kave, with my Asus Xonar DX yesterday and was pretty impressed my its gaming and movie performance but overall sound quality isn't comparable to a good music headphones .

Faheem , U cannot really compare it to a good audiophile headies...can u ?? Its a gaming headset capable of producing good sound even while watching movies n lissenin to muzik...so its like a All in one product for a gamer.....

roccat kave is designed for movies and games and not for music faheem please dont compare it with music headphones I will get confused

^ I know that but I was expecting it to be better since Vikid compared it to a AD700 in the review and the soundstage was better :S.

I have a Roccat Kave too and i am running them with Creative X-fi Titanium and Damn they sound amazing..They are superb with games and movies but they sound good with music too..I just like their low bass and the vibrations :ohyeah:

Sound stage is way better...! But i think the confusion is that, is it great with music? And i think almost everybody knows the answer to that...

But when we observe the sound stage when using the head as what it is meant to be used as.... that is where it excels. As i already mentioned that when listening to music the headphones works only in Stereo mode (not full surround) (Of course music is Stereo).

Plus the Drivers are not exactly Audiophile grade.(But they do manage to give you your occasional music fix without disappointing you - nothing impressive!)

This is a complete home entertainment Headset with insane immersion, and i dont think it can be the Jack of all trades, but whatever it excels at - it does so beautifully.

I have seen plenty of people buying AD700's and sennheiser counterparts , for more than the Kave's retail price..and then shelling extra on USB soundcards or amps.(Even when the primary purpose is gaming!)

This is where the Kave stands out! Its performs exceptionally with Onboard Audio and as you move up the Soundcard ladder, the performance jumps leaps and bounds.

^ I didn't find the soundstage to be all that great :S. Yeah in movies and games the positional audio was really amazing bu that isn't soundstage exactly... that's due to different drivers placed at different positions in the cans. Without any doubt they are the best headphones for gaming / movies if one can't get a 5.1 speaker setup .No denying to that. Hope this sorts out any confusion , don't want folks to take my comments negatively ;).

^ Yea for music the Sound stage is pretty average.... but does improve with the STX ....

Overall i for a gamer the headset doesn't leave gamer wanting for more...

Manu geroge, there is really no confusion here.. Vikid is absolutely right.. Dont go by what others are saying. There seems to be a frequent change in views towards products here in the audio section of TE, so simply stick to your requirement..

Couple of months back when i had recommended the roccat kave to paras khosla, there were prominent TE members arguing on how wrong i am and how good headsets provide better positioning and so on and now i see the same guys recommended the KAVE on virtually every post. Paras had a similar requirement as yours. He got the kave eventually. I feel you should msg him and take his views on the product. I think he can be your best guide here along with vikid..
IF its simply movies and gaming with occasional music listening, the Kave is more than adequate. Dont bother with the sound card update either for now. Stick to onboard and if you feel something is missing, upgrade later..
If music is important too for you, get the AD700(lacks bass, u might miss it in movies) or go the HT way(as per your pm to me). But with any good headset you will need a good soundcard to support it so thats an additional cost.
