a chip of the old block :D i tried a P3 HSF on a P3 northbridge!! and heatsinks for the southbridge and the clockgen chips as well :ohyeah:

The only difference being mine survived and yours didn't.;) :ohyeah:
oh yeah and did i tell you i have put a heat sink over the processor on my live! platinum card. it still works musically even after 6 years.
now planning to open and put a h/s over the chips on my COM21 cable modem as i find it getting hot after nearly 3 years of constant use.

but not kidding about the sound card and the cable modem.
 
Was just going through the price of XP 90c in newegg its 66 $, thats pretty high for just a HS. Also how much better is it from the default A64 HS ?
 
U can find a XP-90c for about $50 at Sidewinder Computers and FrozenCPU. And u'll find a XP-90 for $29~$36 at either place which wud make it a bargain.. of course the prices dont include shipping and the cheapest shipping alone might cost u as much as $7~$8.

But keep in mind that these tests are done in temp controlled environments. If they claim a 19c Load temp, chances are that the testing was done in Jan in France when it was snowing. ;).

And also remember that the XP90C is Copper and very heavy. With a fan, it weighs almost 1 KG. That is waaaay beyond the safe limit given by AMD for it's mobos of 450G. IT is better to go for a XP 120 and be assured that your mobo is not going to break into pieces. What is the difference anyway between XP 120 and XP 90c?? not much. Factor in the Indian heat and that small advantage is even smaller.

I am partial to XP 120 coz' I recently bought one but I weighed all of these facotrs beofre making my purchase. I am convinced that an XP 120 is the best as it is light and the difference is marginal.
